Default S2000 best A/C controls available today?

I have to say, although they may not look pretty compared to other cars, I would say that the S2000 has to have the best heating/air conditioning controls of any car I have driven. I hate getting BMWs or the like and paying extra for automatic A/C that has about 15 buttons, or even worse- is integrated into a nav system, so you have to hit about 5 buttons just to change something with the A/C. The s2k's system is so simple and intuitive that I can change any setting (go from hot to cold, lower vents to defogger, and turn up the fan) all without even looking away from the road. Why would anyone want to pay extra for a system that is more complicated and doesn't do the job any better? I know this sounds like a pretty superficial topic, but my s2k's have always been my daily drivers and little things like that just make me love the car even more!

I agree! I think it's usually the european cars that have the odd and unnecessary controls. A buddy of mine has an early 90's Mercedes E-class; I still can't figure out how to use the damn thing to this day.

When I first read this, I was like what's the big deal they're just standard A/C controls? But now that you mention it, they are pretty simple and useful. Everything is right at your hands when you do use em.

werd! I don't even have to take my hand of the steering wheel to turn the A/C up or down or turn the volume up or down... A true "drivers" car

And yet ppl fail to appreciate the genius in this simple yet effective switch gear design and call it dated or ugly ra ra ra. 2000 was not so long ago - Honda could have put in all the annoying little buttons, bells and whistles. Thankfully - they chose not to.

With our E Class (late 90's) you set the zone thermostats once, when you get the car, and you never have to touch them again unless somebody wants to be a little cooler or warmer. Operation of the system is well thought out and flawless. Doesn't even turn on the blower if the engine is not warmed up (and you need heat), and you can even run the heater after shutting off the engine. Far and away the best "climate control system" I have ever experienced, and using it couldn't be simpler, becuase it's just like setting the thermostat in your home. Set, and forget.

For a *manual* system, there is nothing not to like about the S2000 control setup. I wouldn't want to change a thing.

all in keeping with the s2k's spartan, no-nonsense interior...

i am NOT a fan of automatic climate control.

its kinda like an automatic gear box, dictating the oepration of the ac unit instead of the transmission

i like button for ac on/off, and a nice lever for fan speed that i can flick with fingertips while grasping the steering wheel

oh, and the fan is pretty damn strong, too... i dotn think ive ever gone 4+... usually at 1 to maintain temp, or 3 when its hotter out

You don't have to take your hands off the wheel for any dash control - its a great design!
