It's such a fantastic idea, able to adjust the fan velocity without taking ur hand off the wheel. Climate control is cool and all, but I find it rather annoying over time, your optimal temperature is dependent on the outside temp, so if its cold you'll want 80 degrees whereas if it were hot you'd want sub zero, and it takes forever to change the setting from 80 to cold, I'd rather just turn a knob.

When I first read this, I was like what's the big deal they're just standard A/C controls? But now that you mention it, they are pretty simple and useful. Everything is right at your hands when you do use em.
i was thinking the same thing

I read this yesterday, and then on my way in the morning (dark since I start work at 6) my windshield suddenly fogged up. I didn't even have to think about it or look for it; instant defrost mode.

Thanks Honda!

The only thing I don't like is the fan speed control "rocker". I believe they went that route for visual symmetry with the volume control, but I would have preferred another knob, like the hot/cold. They could have kept symmetry by using a knob for stereo volume as well...

Or do you think both are the rocker type because it's easier to "punch" up/down with hands on the wheel than it is to turn a knob? I just prefer the ability to get up to full power without hitting the button 10 times.

^I prefer punch up and down since I can just extend my middle finger to do it without having to let the hand off the steering wheel to turn the knob.

With the up down switches I find myself pushing them like a button at the top or the bottom, as opposed to using the level that protrudes out of the middle. This goes for usage of the volume on the left as well.

Definitely a simple and frequently overlooked design perk of the dash!

Personally I have never been find of climate control. I'm aware that it works on a thermostat, but if I'm cold I'll always turn the temperature up as high as I can, like it'll make it warmer faster. Not really the case I guess I inherited that from my grandfather who did the same thing in his 1960-something Cadillac. It's hereditary.

Why not just hold it until it reaches full then? I personally like being able to find it by touch. If it was another knob I'd probably be changing the temperature instead of the fan speed half the time.

Yep, the best because I can adjust everything without taking my hand of the steering wheel or looking at the controls. What could be better?

Twisty dials ROCK... Buttons suck. I fear buttons...

If I could find some knurled aluminum knobs to replace the plastic ones... Now that would be great.

Off topic: Having spent the last 10 years in 3-series and the S, I can't figure out why car makers continue to point all of the "center stack" stuff directly at the center of the back seat. Now BMW is doing it too and I just don't get it. Now that I have the S, I'm wondering what the center stack is for at all.
