s2000 bliss
I drive my S2k 100 miles a day to and from work, even during the winter, snow, and rain. I also have a CL type-S and an Volvo V70 T5 wagon that would make much better daily drivers, but I have too much fun in the S and I enjoy driving it so much that I take it out every day.
It is good to have the wagon to haul crap around, and the CL for I dunno.. not the best at carrying people either

this is a good thread because as someone who doesn't have the car, it's impossible to know how it feels. when i didn't have the car, i would have like for someone to describe what a day with it feels like. hope you read this cuz im not doing this for kicks.
The garage door slowly elevates revealing the chrome pipes and the LED tails that i never get to see work, but wish i could. I've seen this sight many times before, but i'm glad to see it again because it means the past drives really happened. Get in, (I'm bigger than you by a little) and feel the cool leather hug my torso tightly, supportively, like no other seat i'm been in. Take a calm breath, because i know i won't take another till long after i take the key out. The engine starts with a stab of the red button. doesn't sound like much and i back out. As the top drops with ease, i glance up at the sky like i've dont countless times and smile. Crisp, cool morning air fills replaces the old air, but i'm already thinking about the road ahead. I have to think way ahead because the biggest waste of this machine is traffic. When the engine temp creeps up to warm, I just take off. Revving when I can, carving the corners like the car is part of my body. As it's happening, sometimes you have a brief moment of clarity. enough to ask yourself if you're really this lucky. the car doesn't have a ferrari badge, but to me it does (many would say i just don't know better).
if there is traffic, then i find myself wishing i was in a comfy auto car. but any other time, just a repeat of above. that's not including the occassional person looking at you, wanting to race u, asking u about it. The car is that good.
I walk away from it at night and just shake my head. for the frugal in me, i think how could all that fun cost less than so much other crap out there (i bought used). hope this helps.

Hey, tht's pretty good. My sentiments, more or less.
I love the car so much, I wonder how people could consciously choose NOT to drive an S2k.
I see other people tooling around in their land-boats, and I can't help but feel a little bit smug in thinking that they have no CLUE what they're missing.
Every journey, whether 3 miles or 300, is just that: A journey. A jaunt. A trip. Most importantly: An experience. I have been on so many drives where I know for a fact I would've missed out if I was in a roofed car.
The S2000 IS the best kept secret in the automotive world. There is a reason S2ki is such an active board with so much enthusiasm. It's because all the owners know something that the rest of the world doesn't- that "fun to drive" is the S2000's strength, and you'd be hard pressed to find a worthy adversary in that category.
Anybody who has ever uttered the words: "Who would want to rev an engine to 9000 just to get any power out of it?" has obviously never done it. Because once you have, the answer is a resounding: "I DO."
The very soul of the S2000 is hardcore, and it weeds out the weak, the timid, and the luxury-bent posers. It must be driven with both feet and both hands, and it must be driven hard. Those looking for a coddling ride need not apply. Your vehicle and bill is waiting faithfully over on the Porsche lot.
Driving the S2000 on daily basis, I often find myself thinking that this much fun can't be legal. Then I glance down at the speedometer, and realize that in fact, it is not. Color me a rebel. This car brings out the boy-racer in all of us, begging to be driven fast, and once again, with feeling.
Three words to sum it up:
Best
car
ever.

I just bought a new 05 and have barely cracked 50 miles because of bad weather/roads.
This car is one of the most impractical cars ever made. No glove box or real storage space inside the car. Small trunk. Loud with the top up and louder with the top down. No heated seats. Radio sucks. Stiff ride that kicks your ass on bad roads. Can barely see traffic lights if I'm the first car. Big blind spot with the top up. Driver's compartment is cramped and I barely fit (5'10").
But that's part of the fun of this driver's car. I've been wanting one since 2000 and love every second with my car.
When I drive top down in 30 degree weather at night, I still can't stop smiling.

Everytime i'm reminded of all the impracticalities from myself and my passengers (no storage, sorry radio, cupholders, everything else listed above), I just chuckle and makes me smile
. People buy cars for these type of comfort features, but definitely not us S owners. So i'm always remined of "why did I buy this car" definitely not for the convenience or luxury, but purely for the thrill of the trip.

I bought my 04 S without ever got inside any S before I paid for it. The first time I was in a S2000 was after I handed over the check, got the key and drove off on gorgeous Saturday morning Nov 2003. I love every minute I drove my S, specially last Saturday on a 85 miles trip home from Simi Valley at 10:30 PM with top down and music blarring, heater was on because outside temperature was in the low 50s, The drive home was priceless. S2000 is designed for Southern California for the nice weather we have all year long.
I've owned many cars (my S is number 16). I'd had my eye on them for a few years, but started to get more serious about one as I started to get bored with my EP3 (2002 Civic Si). When it came time to purchased, I was heavily leaning on the M3, but the cost of the car, plus cost of the mods I wanted to do made me hesitate a lot. So I went for my first choice and ordered up my '06. I'll be honest, I wasn't totallycertain about the car even after writing the check for it. I've wanted an M3 for a long time, and was at a point were I could afford to own it, but for some reason my gut said get the S. I picked it up, made it through the break in and floored it. Since that moment, I haven't thought about the M3 once.
When I drive to work, top down, stereo up and park it among the BMW's/Mercedes/Audi's/Cadillacs the S fits right in. I almost always look back at her on my way in, and can't wait until lunch to go anywhere for lunch. The car truly is addictive. Whoever said it was the best kept secret has it exactly. It really is a little known secret. But this is just such a fun car. As Simon Cowell woudl say, it has that X factor. It doesn't haver to be the fastest, most expensive, most exclusive, there's just something about it.
Is it practical, not a chance. But then, I like that part about it. I'm married with a new daughter (3 months old). Its been inconvient at time. I've had to make an extra trip to swap cars sometimes, but it hasn't bothered me at all. That's why I bought my wife her Passat. Now, I also have a Jeep to drive, so bad weather and passenger needs can still be met. But if the Jeep wasn't there, I don't think the S would leave anytime soon.
So what's a day in the life of the S really like? just one word my man:
Perfect
