Default s2000 bliss

I was just curious to see what a day in the life of s2000 ownership is like, your commuting, any cool stories, any draw backs, what cars did you consider owner before your s2000 and what would you like to be in if not the s2000 but most of all what bliss do you get from your car, I am trying to see it from responses so I can truly understand it, I have driven two of them and just didn't feel the love but maybe lots of seat time changes that... I fear I'd feel cramped, closed in but I never drove the s2000 with the top down or really got to drive free with it, salesman were always there so I felt like I was walking on egg shells anyways, I'm 5'10 160 lbs... Lets hear it.

6'1 185lbs. Feels fine inside. It has an altogether different character with the top down, and when you're able to run through the gears. There are compromises with regard to storage space and creature comforts, but when you're in the market for this car, you should take that into account beforehand. I knew there were gonna be sacrifices with this car, but I was fine with them. I love the looks, I love the performance. I daily drive mine, and the only time I hate it is when my ass is stuck in traffic. The sound of the engine at full song is intoxicating. On nice, sunny days with the top down, I just can't help but smiling. People think I'm a flipping lunatic, I bet, But I don't care.

There may be some owners out there jaded as hell about this car, but meh. I still love it, and don't regret buying it.

its a drivers car... for those who enjoy the thrill of driving

it not a cruiser or road car-

and i agree that you can not enjoy this car if you are shy about driving it hard (like with a salesman sitting next to you- although that never bothered me)

my commute was great- 3 places i could open the car up on the way to work with no one around, and one with a little twisty in it. for sitting in traffic, its not the best choice imo.

and this car should never be driven top up!!

6.0 - 165lbs

I fit in the car exceptionally well- At first with the top up; you feel kind've like you're in a go-kart, after awhile, you'll get into a friends [sport] sedan and it'll feel like a minivan. It's all about perspective. As far as being comfortable, I drove mine from California to Canada and back in one weekend-- top was up about 75% of the time. 10 hours in any car and you're going to be feeling it, but it was probably the most comfortable long trip cruiser I've had to date.

I traded my 00 Jetta GLS 1.8t w/ Chip for the S2000... The other car I was primarily looking at was a 350Z (Hardtop or Roadster)... They're just too damn big / heavy / unwielding in comparison. Don't get me wrong, they're comfortable and feel well put together-- but drive one after the other and the S2000 feels like a goddamn razor blade, whereas the 350z feels a bit more like a butter knife.

The bliss is indescribable. This car [even if only for a bit] will make a shitty day seem not so bad. It's the first time I've owned a car and really had the feeling of not wanting to own anything else, even if money were no object; that's extremely fulfilling.

The salesmen usually understand that it's a sports car and expect some testing of the limits-- you're not buying it for cupholders, or a kickass stereo, etc; you're buying it because it's very good at what it does, which is rev like a banshee and slice up corners.

Owning an S is truly an experience unto itself.

5'8" 160lbs fits like a glove

My first choice was an m3 vert but it's way too much money for me at this time so i went with the s2k.when the s2k first came out i didn't think much of it till a friend of mine got one and let me test drive it...after that i said to myself i gotta get one of these one day.depends on your lifestyle weather or not you can get away with a 2 seater or not,it's way too small for any type of cargo to carry around.Basically it's just you and the girl.....

Peace
David

this is a good thread because as someone who doesn't have the car, it's impossible to know how it feels. when i didn't have the car, i would have like for someone to describe what a day with it feels like. hope you read this cuz im not doing this for kicks.

The garage door slowly elevates revealing the chrome pipes and the LED tails that i never get to see work, but wish i could. I've seen this sight many times before, but i'm glad to see it again because it means the past drives really happened. Get in, (I'm bigger than you by a little) and feel the cool leather hug my torso tightly, supportively, like no other seat i'm been in. Take a calm breath, because i know i won't take another till long after i take the key out. The engine starts with a stab of the red button. doesn't sound like much and i back out. As the top drops with ease, i glance up at the sky like i've dont countless times and smile. Crisp, cool morning air fills replaces the old air, but i'm already thinking about the road ahead. I have to think way ahead because the biggest waste of this machine is traffic. When the engine temp creeps up to warm, I just take off. Revving when I can, carving the corners like the car is part of my body. As it's happening, sometimes you have a brief moment of clarity. enough to ask yourself if you're really this lucky. the car doesn't have a ferrari badge, but to me it does (many would say i just don't know better).

if there is traffic, then i find myself wishing i was in a comfy auto car. but any other time, just a repeat of above. that's not including the occassional person looking at you, wanting to race u, asking u about it. The car is that good.

I walk away from it at night and just shake my head. for the frugal in me, i think how could all that fun cost less than so much other crap out there (i bought used). hope this helps.

^ nicely put dyhppy.

Here's my story.
As I get dressed in the morning for work, I contemplate about which car I will take to work. I can't help it but choose the S2000. I us my keyless entry remote to unlock the car and pop the trunk and place my laptop bag in the trunk and then I jump into the driver's seat. Door still open and I lean back into the seats with one leg in the car and one leg out. I notice how well the seats support my back. I take a breather look around the dash board and prepare myself for the red button. Left foot that was outside comes in, I close the door, clutch in, right hand pops the gears out and places the transmission into neutral, release clutch, I buckle up and adjust my collar, lean back, clutch in, turn the key and then my left index finger pushes the start button. I release the clutch and lean back into the seat with a carefree feeling knowing that I get to drive the s2000.

Same routine happens at the end of the day too.
