I'm in roadster heaven . My friend just came by with his 3-week old Boxster S. What a car! We took turns driving each other down my favorite nearby twisty road, and the "other" S-car is amazing. I particularly like the engine note at full throttle ... sure sounds like it means business. Don't worry, the VTEC wail still gets my blood boiling too. Also of interest is the slightly lower seating position in the Boxster, there aren't many cars lower than the Honda.

Things I liked:
More head room and outward visibility than the S2000
Throaty full throttle engine note
The car seems very well balanced
Loads of luggage space
Beautiful built-in boot cover
Available "sport rack" for carrying bikes, etc. on roof

Things I didn't like:
Extra $20k
Can't see the engine
More difficult to service for the home mechanic.

I can only hope that once the new has worn off, we can try out each other's rides. Here they are:

Joshua, nice pics! I like the Boxster in white a lot...those wheels look really nice on it, too. Are they a factory option?

Both of those beauties look, ummm...beautiful!

Great pictures! The Boxster S would be my choice if I wanted to spend some more cash. Or maybe a 996 C4 -- amazing car.

I agree it looks great in white. Imagine owning both. Deciding on which car to drive could be tough

We have a winnah!

When I started shopping for roadsters about 15 months ago, one of my stops was Champion Porsche in Pompano. I was treated with more respect there than any other dealer including ones from Honda, Mazda, and BMW. The Boxster S wasn't out yet, so I had to "settle" for test drives of '99 and '00 Boxsters.

Very nice cars indeed. I sat in a Boxster once but found it exceptionally cramped (I'm 6'2" with long legs). I don't have too much trouble in the S2000, and I actually sit higher in it than in my del Sol (neither are lowered). I love the rear end of the Boxster. I'm somewhat disappointed with the rear end of the S2000. Don't get me wrong - it's very nice but it just doesn't seem to match the "meanness" of the front. Am I lone in this thought?
