S2000 buying experience?
I am looking at one with 20 miles on it. Should I be wary of anything? Yesterday I test drove one and the sales person revved it up to 6000 a few times. What happens to the break-in period? I don't know. I am a little paranoid about this. Advice?
As a salesmanager if someone would ask me to sell him the s2000 $3000 off b/c it's got 20 miles on it, I would ask them to leave the premises asap. Now let's make some sense. S2000 is Honda's bread and butter. If you want $3000 off go buy a MR2. If you don't want to pay for the value, don't worry we have plenty of people to buy these cars. THAT'S THE REASON I LOVE MY S2000! It's a limited vehicle. Now to get a discount, if you are referral to us, we'll discount it(not $3000 though). That's b/c you are a member of s2ki or you know somebody. But if you are just somebody and you claim we should sell you this car $3000 off b/c of 20 miles, you would get the same response that you would do, when a dealer asks you to pay $5000 over sticker.

So, as a sales manager, do you train your sales staff on how to drive a car that is under the break-in mileage or just let them do whatever they want and leave to the customer to deal with after they buy it? This particular dealership obviously hasn't trained it's staff.
I don't think it's unreasonable to ask especially if the salesman revs it up past 6k with only 20 miles on it. They just broke the Honda recommendations for the break-in period.
Asking them to leave for asking under this circumstance seems a bit out of line. The request is justified by the potential consumer.
