Default S2000 CR Purchase Thread

First off - Since there is already a 74 page "definitive" CR thread with plenty of opinions about the CR and very little in the way of useful information let's PLEASE keep this thread confined to discussions about purchasing a 2008 S2000 CR. If you want to talk about why someone should not buy a CR or why your car is better you will find pletty of similar banter in the "definitive" thread.

Now, later today I am going to be sitting down with my dealer to negotiate the deal on my CR. I'd love to hear from others who are planning or seriously considering purchasing a CR. Why? Is it going to be a track day car? Is it your first S2000? Your first track car? What sort of deal did you get? What was the process like? When will you take delivery...etc, etc???

I'll know more later but FWIW this will be my second S2000. I still have a pristine, low miles MY00 AP1 that will remain a weekend car and will probably be driven more by my wife than I once the CR arrives. I also have a MY2004 MINI Cooper S that is my current track car that will still see some track duty and probably some rallyes or ice races going forward but the CR will become the dedicated race machine.

I've been doing HPDE track events for a few years now and plan to step up to competitive events with the CR starting with Solo and Time Trials/Attack and if all goes well working my way up to wheel to wheel racing (W2W), although I'm not sure the CR will be the car I run W2W with, I might go vintage for that as I'm guessing I'll prefer the mellower vibe.

Anyway, would love to hear from others that are purchasing or plan to purchase a CR about your experiences.

Thanks,

T<

if the thread changes from this purpose we'll lock it - just trying to respect the initiative of the moderator that created the other thread to keep clutter of information down.

Well i went to the local honda dealership looking to get into a S2000 CR and right off the bat the dealer tried to get me into a regular S2k. Soo after some talking i got my name down on a waiting list. I'm in So-Cal and the dealer said each dealership will only be getting one, as of right now i am just praying for a color i want.

This is my first S2000 my brother had one when they first came out most fun a i have ever had in a car.

This will be my first sports car and i do plan on taking it to the track, as of now i am driving a 06 civic coupe (Boring car).

For people who are putting their names on the list, are you paying a deposit? also did the dealer promise to sell at or a certain $ above MSRP?

No deposit and no price was set i knew more about the car more then the dealer did.
Kinda got a blank stare when i asked the first guy but then another dealer sat and talked with me didnt really get into numbers just signed i slip and just told then the colors i would want. I plan on going back in tomorrow.

Is there any date set for when the CR's are shipped to dealers?

If anyone wants me to ask the dealer some questions about the CR ill report back tomorrow with the info.

I hated the CR initially, but for some reason it's starting to grow on me.
I'm trying to see one in person from a local dealer, but they only have one '07 NFR.
I'm guessing that dealers will definitely put markups.
Please let us know the final "asking" price.

dealer that i have talked to are still calling it "the one with the wing".
so i'm waiting untill they learn more about it or when it arrives on the lot so i can get solid numbers of how much they want for a stripped S2K.
