Default S2000 crash test video

Here's a great video of an S2000 crash test. It held up remarkably well. The site isn't in english but has lots of crash test videos.

I don't a lot about car crashes, but the S2k one on that list of vids, seemed about 1/2 as violent as most of the others? I think it was the only one that the car did not 'jump' off the ground after impact, my guess being because the car absorbed the impact as opposed to 'rebounding' or resisting the sudden stoppage. Or am I crazy?

How'd it do all that damage going that slow?

just kidding,
but really, it absorbs the impact really good from what I can tell, seeing that video hurt, but made me feel a little safer.

I think the most important bit of information is the apparent lack of any deformity in the passenger compartment and frame - I suspect that the doors would open without any trouble whatsoever. That's amazing in and of itselft - but doubly so for a convertible. Check out the crash tests of pickup trucks - where the whold cab deforms and tries to smush the driver. People who think large vehicles are safer simply because they're large are foolish, IMO.

How fast was it going? From the clock, the car seemed to come to a stop at 0.10 seconds.

Moral of the story: Never let a Crash Test Dummy drive your car.
