We've recently heard some bad news from a certain Honda executive...

What a title! Talk about getting scared just from a partial read of a title “The S2000 is dead”
Can I be the first to say people purchase as many as you can “ got to get them all” lol

I have been saying this for years! The S2000 belongs to another era and it was as much a celebration of Honda as it was a farewell to its legendary designer. IF there will ever be another 2 seat sports car from Honda, it will be very similar to the Miata, lighter, smaller, less powerful, more fuel efficient with all the electronic nannies, bells and whistles most folks think they simply must have these days for their driving enjoyment. It will also come with the option of an automatic. A reasonably priced, take no prisoners niche car as raw as the S2000 will never be seen again from Honda! ... I would love to be wrong on this but, I seriously doubt I am.

Well this may be viewed as sad but it can also (and I'm sure this is how the majority feels) be viewed as happy. Our S2000 was way ahead of its time and is a timeless modern classic that's never been replicated nor ever will be. Like others said above, it will live on through us owners who cherish it and care for it in the highest, most meticulous manner. It's all the more collectible and special now that there is not going to be a successor. Its also a testament to Honda's high level engineering, ingenuity and the brilliance of its legendary creator Uehara san! In his famous words "...the legacy of the S2000 will shine for long" and shine forever it will!

P.S. Toyota revived the Supra with a successor and so did Honda with the new NSX even though they are vastly different to their predecessors. This means that maybe somewhere in the distant future a successor to our S2K's may be made. Like the article said though, it will most probably be vastly different. If so then that will keep the original the unicorn that it is today.

Why is S2Ki using a debunked article as a basis for a story, especially since it seems to legitimize the debunked article?

"Never say never". Good to hear that and that made a lot of sense. Mori being one man voicing what seemed to be his opinion. On the other hand he may have a fair amount of valid insight due to his position within the company, who knows... its impossible to know for sure until Honda Japan actually announces a prototype for a possible new S2000 like they did with the SSM back in '95 for our current S2000's. If I worked for Honda I would be one of those enthusiasts pushing for a new S2K project and at the same time I would propose something as similar to the current one as possible and code name it "AP3" because our cars are just too great to actually be "replaced" or "succeeded"
