Maybe this is old news but... I was at the dealer today picking up some oil filters and the Parts Guy behind the desk said that Honda is discontinuing the S2000 in 2006?
Anyone hear this too.... or am i the last one to find out?
Your thoughts?

By the way, I just completed a telephone interview in response to my purchase of a 05 S in which there were all kinds of questions about interior space, smoothness/roughness of the ride, soft top versus retractable hardtop, value for price, horsepower, 4cyl vs 6cyl preference, heated seats, night vision display, heads-up display, hybrid drive-train, all-wheel-drive, super vs. turbo-charger, etc. The questions were specifically targeted to opinions about these features in a two-seat Honda sportscar. I don't know who sponsered the research, but someone is spending a lot of money to get opinions about these innovations from 05 S2K owners. Maybe the 07 S3K will have a 360 HP turbocharged 6 cylinder with a retractable hard top, AWD, heads-up display, night vision, heated seats ... and a price reduction. Now, I'll watch and see if this starts any new rumors.

I'll say this up front -- this is bald, unsupported speculation and entirely without any factual basis whatsoever, but my hunch is that whatever Honda does, and whenever Honda does it, when the S2000 is replaced it will be with a two-seater sold in the US as an Acura.
The s2000 really does not fit into the current US marketing scheme for Honda, and just think how many more cars would be sold in the US if it also appealed to the snobby folks who are buying a BWM Z4s because they would simply never be seen in a Honda.
e.g., Euro Accord = Acura TSX in US, Honda NSX = Acura NSX in US.
