Default ??S2000 Discontinued??

A little help? When I just bought my sebring silver in S.L.C. UT, the general manager of Larry H. Miller Honda told me that he had talked to the Vice pres. of Honda, and suposidly (spelled right?) The V.P. had told him that there will be no more production of the S2000. Now I dont know if this was just a selling point for him, but the dealership which I bought it from sells the most S2000s of any other dealership in the U.S. and each of the 3 years that the S has been in production this dealership has been allocated the most S's to sell each year. I would think that if you have a dealership which sells the hell out of these cars they would now if they are going to get more.

Now you tell me is this bull S**t???

Honda announced that this would be a 4 year production car. Next year (2003) is the last model year that Honda is committed to.

Whether they stick to that or not, we'll see.

The GM where I got my S in November 99 showed me the vin of the S on the floor. He told me the reason that they were called S2000 was that they were only going to make them in 2000 and since they were only going to make 5000 and since the vin on the floor model was 3xxx they would all be gone by the end of December so I guess those 2001 and 2002 models were just imaginary. Do not EVER EVER believe anything a dealer tells you unless it is in writing and then have serious doubts.

Honda is a business. Businesses want to make money. The s2000 is making money for the business. Will the business stop making the s2000, thus stop making money on it? I don't think so. Especially after just four years.

I'll bet you $10.00 I'm right!

Hey S2000 TypeSS-

Which salesman at LHM did you talk to. That's where I'm getting mine and my salesman Steve Johnson also said the same thing, but I didn't put much stock in what he said because I know that a car manufacturer isn't going to just spam out information about a cars life span.

no, that stands for the engine displacement #.
if it was for the year it was first made, it should be something like s1997.

From everything that I have read here, one of the last people you should believe is the dealership. They have told people to put in synthetic oil in their cars for its first oil change (even though the owner's manual says not to until after your second or 7500 miles). They have been saying the particular model year was the last year when it wasn't. I wouldn't believe it until Honda in Japan says it's the last year.

My salesman was Rob something but it was not him that told me. it was a taller youger white guy that wears glasses(looks like an accountant) blonde, part on the left of head, round face, office in the west of the sales floor.
