Default s2000 driveway find...

Today I took my son to look at a car, he bought it...
this 2000 s2000 had been sitting for about 2 years, non operational dmv papers, rotten tires, really bad looking brakes, paint toast with a dent on passenger side behind wheel, no frame damage, the clear bra has fallen apart and took the paint with it also.....an old high school friend had it left at her home by her son....discarded, not in a barn but out in the sun in her driveway.....

newish top, drivetrain ok...started right up, no smoke...2 year old gasoline....run well enough to take it home, one door handle broken when someone tried to get into door, ruined rubber above door/top,
aftermarket stereo....seats are toast, same with carpet...aftermarket header...smog legal????suspension excellent and appears to be stock...stock exaust behind header.
no cold air intake!

has oil leaks, no smoke at all....it's his now, he will bring it back from the dead....174,000 miles

Good luck with the restoration, be sure to take lots of pics. When I was reading the 1st post I was thinking someone was looking for a parts car!

my son has authorized this statement on value: "way under $5,000."
an almost stock ap1 with 174k that drives pretty well out of the box...after sitting for two years...it started right up and we drove it (I followed) through 35 miles of bay area traffic without issue.

this is not a parts car, it is a keeper that needs tlc and deferred maintenance done to it.

This was allot like a wheeler dealer episode for sure.

Get out the spanners, fix the oily bits from bonnet to boot, respray for the tatty finish and you'll be Bob's uncle.

I think it is a way to make it so you don't have to drive it to renew the registration. Basically it is saying it not a running car but you are still replying to the DMV when it comes time to register it.
