Default S2000 Dyno

When my car was 100% stock, I had it dynoed at intercrew with some disapointing results. After the Intake and exhaust install, I noticed my car pulling alot stronger. People tell me that it was just the seat of my pants. I wanted to make sure, so i stuck it on the dyno machine a second time. Saturday morning, very humid and warm, i took her to intercrew and dynoed again with some amazing results. 17 hp and 13 tq difference! Philip was amazed that my car gained that power, thats a big difference for my car. I know most people get 200hp+ stock, but my car is weak. What sucks is that it took exhaust and intake to get normal stock numbers.

Stock Dynoed (October 2005)
187whp 127wtq

I/E Dyno (May 2006)
204whp 140wtq

Ordered an INVDIA test pipe and going to have that installed this week and will put her back on the dyno. Thanks for the recommendation 1fastminivan, I hope i gain the power you did with a test pipe.

moving to S2ktalk.

also, intake/exhaust dont net those kinds of gains. unfortunately your dyno's don't tell us much.

how many times did you dyno in october? what were your coolant temps? timing maps? ambient temp and humidity?

and, same questions for your recent dyno.

you realize that dyno's have about a 4-5% error factor right? dyno the car at least 3-4 times to help eliminate that error.

nice numbers with the fipk and exhaust. I have the fipk and a supersprint exhaust and would like to dyno mine sometime for curiosity.

In addition to what Ws2k said, was the last dyno done in STD or with SAE correction?

Not only can temps and other factors skew numbers, but just air pressure in your tires and strap down on the dyno (Dynojet) can alter the numbers significantly.

That's a really huge gain! Any tuning involved?

Yo guys, dont get your hopes up, like Wisconsin said, Dyno was probably not accurate. I did however feel my car pulling stronger in the low and top end after the intake/exhaust install. Realistically, I think I gained at least 10whp from the mods.
My car was so sluggish before the mods that i made a tread about my 187hp/127tq previous dyno results and felt like getting rid of the S2000.

On the Winpep7 I used STD and not SAE. SAE gives me about 200hp and 138tq. I also used smoothing 5, which gives me the lowest power readings. Switch it to smoothing 4 and lower, my torque goes up to 143+.
Humidty was like 37% and 95 degree's outside. Car was also dynoed 15 minutes after i got there. No icebag or water on the manifold.

Car is going back to the Dyno after the test pipe install, if i get less than 200hp SAE, I give up on the S2000.

Sounds to me like you can chalk this up to dyno error. Or your car worked the gremlin out of the engine on its own.

I don't doubt you picked up some hp with those mods, but you almost need to dyno it again to be closer to the exact amount. Good to see gains with some of those parts.

Why do you feel the car pulls better, even dyno shows only 10hp gain?

Sound, better throttle respond, and most important, the weight saving! Trow out the spare and you'll save another 30lb or so, total of 50-60lb you save and that's a lot.

can't you go back to the dyno place to correct it to SAE?
