I didn't testdrive the Stook before I bought it and I wondered if I have to drive all the time in first gear in the city.
But of course this in not the case and it was one of the positive experiences I made how well the engine responses at +2000rmp. I never stalled the engine and the only times I need to go >6000 rpm is when I'm driving on the highway

the only problem I find with driving the s2000 in city traffic, is that it's just too frustrating... I can't stop trying to make the tail skid a bit on empty roundabouts, and I noticed my level of agressivity is much higher when I'm in this little beast.

Dawn,

I have found my S2000 easy to drive in all conditions. In the city it gives you the opportunity to go for the gaps that are not nornally there.

My wife enjoys drivng the car: the seats are extremely comfortable and she finds the clutch very easy to use.

Finally, to quote my youngest brother, "gear changing is an option" and it is true.

Tony

HEY! The April, 2001 Consumer Reports named the Honda S2000 as one of the ten best cars of the year. They named it NUMBER ONE in fun.

Dawn, buy it and have fun. Unless you need to haul a dozen kids or bales of hay or tow a horse trailer, the S2000 is great.

If you need to drive it in snow, do get snow tires.

Although I enjoy driving my car in most conditions and discount all this bunk about low rpm performance, there are some things to consider if this is your only car.

I don't think it snows much in Tucson

cdelena - good points. I always have my brother's grand prix or sister-in-law's taurus available if 'hauling' is needed. The attention factor is something you will have to account for especially. For example, taking it if/when you go to a bar or club is bad - very high probability of getting pulled over, if it is parked in a ramp or lot a lot of people will see it and may take liberties at it, etc.

I've put 27,000 miles of Houston traffic on my car during my 10 months of owning my S2k. This car is a dream in traffic. I wouldn't want to be in any other car.

It's fine as a daily driver here in Philly area. Post some pics with the Suguaro Cactus in the background of your new stook. I love Tucson, Bisbee, etc

i drove 400 miles today over 9 hours going thru everything from empty mountain roads to san francisco traffic.

san francisco is the worst place to own a low torque car because of the hills and low speed limit but i was zipping around town like there was no tomorrow! 1st gear puts you right at vtec around 20-25mph which is very convenient for quick lane changes.

sitting in downhill stop and go was a pain (southbound golden gate bridge, 6pm). first gear idle is good at 4mph, drop to 3mph and it starts to bog.

when i'm sitting in traffic i just remind myself that the top is down and the sun is shining and that's enough to keep me satisfied it's VERY rare (now that i'm not getting pulled over as often) when being in this car, in any situation, is not enough to elicit a smile!

Well you all have come through again! Thanks for all your kind feedback!

I will be moving forward this Friday to purchase one if everything works out. If so, I'll post some pictures in front of some saguaros as paS2K requested!

paS2K, it is over 100 degrees everyday this week here, your S2K is probably enjoying the weather there in P.A. a lot more right now! Now in the winter, when I am riding with my top down (S2K's that is)...
