S2000 in everyday traffic?
DAWN!...u cant do that!....stop teasing now....."do or do not, there is no try"...LOL...isnt that what yoda says?....I think some guy has it as his signature too...LOLOL That totally cracks me up!
The truth is that the Stook is one of the easiest manual trannied cars in the world to drive in traffic.
with the top down, visibility is unparalleled. the tranny is pure joy. it is light, has amazingly positive and short throws, and feels good to the hand. the clutch is very light for a car with this much power. try driving an M roadster in traffic. don't get me wrong, i love the M roadster but the advantages of increased torque are more than outweighed (IMO) by the high effort clutch.
yes, the car is somewhat noisy and stiffly suspended. its a sports car, its supposed to be.
if you're looking for a cushy ride, low noise, a great stereo, and a no brainer tranny... look no further than a tl or cl type s. however, if you want an absolute world class sports car at a bargain price, the stook is your winner.
it does demand a bit more of the driver. but it also pays huge dividends.
do yourself a favor. find someone in your area to take you for an extended test drive. once you experience driving in real world conditions and driving wide open throttle you will see what we're all trying to tell you.

Here in Seattle we now have the dubious distinction of having traffic that is on par with LA for commute times. My 11 mile 17 minute commute in the morning is never less than 30 minutes in the evening and can be as long as two hours. So how does the S2K deal with everyday driving, brilliantly.
Actually I think this is one place that modest low low end torque works in the cars favor, launching the car in stop and go traffic is not an exercise on how quickly you can get on the brakes before you hit the car in front of you. I've ridden with my friend in his Boxster a few times in this traffic, and that car is hell. Hard launches on clutch release and then quick application on the brakes. I'd take the S2K in traffic anyday over the Boxster.
Noise, well yeah, its a bit noisy, but not bad really, its such a fantastic noise.
When traffic is bad and the weather's not, I driving with the top down listening to my tunes. I don't care if it takes 20 minutes or two hours, its all good. When the weather's bad, its not as much fun, but its still better than being in the boats I've had in the past.
The other nice thing is that if traffic never gets above 42 you never have to shift out of first.

If anyone says S2K is not an everyday car then they gotta lay off the sauce.
I have the STooK for almost 18 months and let me tell you it's pretty cool and fancy to have the STooK as the daily beater. You can weave in an out of traffic with the best of them
. VTEC is a terrible thing to waste!!!

it does kinda suck in everyday driving or in city driving, but you get used to it, for all of its so called "flaws" are what makes the s2000 its own......yah know? but i am used to the having to deal with it is high traffic and i still love it

but after you get away from the traffic that when you can really have your fun with it, so it is DEFINATLY worth it

It is somewhat amusing to read reviews that say that a car wouldn't be ideal as a daily commuter, etc. The statement alone shows a bias of the writer. After all, he/she likely has different tolerance levels than me!
I've owned three Lexus vehicles, a RX300, GS400 and SC400. I must say that in comparison to my Stook, the differences were night and day...when looking at isolation (defined as noise and road feel).
Ths Stook is a convertible for crying out loud. It is a performance "roadster" vehicle. Of course it isn't going to be like driving a Lexus. It's not going to be like driving cars that have bigger engines, or front wheel drive, or four doors, etc.
I drive mine daily. I have a TL Type S that I only drive when I need one or more of the following: I know I need more than two seats, I need the navigation system to get me to where I want to go, I'm going shopping for a lot of groceries. Given a choice, its the Stook that gets my butt in its seat. I'd bet that if others here were asked if they bought this car for its practicality, they would laugh! Accords are for practicality.
That said, I think that magazines go for the opinion of the masses. Judging by the numbers, the masses buy Accords, Camrys and Taruses. They can have them!
If one is looking for a cacoon (as I found with my Lexus vehicles, and to a certain extent with my TL-S), the Stook probably should be the primary vehicle.

I drive my car everyday in bumper to bumper south Florida traffic. It's a great car. I've seen these same 'comments' since day one...ignore them. My wife drives it occasionally and she agrees. No complaints here!

Perhaps you would like to know what my concerns are about this issue (driving in everyday traffic) today: NONE!
I am now the proud owner of a red S2K and the way it handles in traffic is outstanding!!!! You were all right on target with your feedback, which contributed to my decision to buy one!
Thanks gang!
