I noticed that while drainin the oil that it was pretty dark with 3000miles on it....one thing though, i had this oil in my car for about 7months, could this be the problem, oil gettign old???

Usually white smoke is a sign of burning water\coolant so I don't think it is burning off old oil. Oil burns blue, did you maybe drive through a deep puddle and water got into your muffler?

or have you washed your car with Jet hose and had water in your exhaust?

i think this may be it. i dont spray water into the exhuast but water does get in it when i wash my car. But the last time i washed the car was 3 weeks ago and i covered the car completely. Could water still be stuck in there....?

When you're idling it takes longer for the cat and exhaust to warm up, so maybe you were just seeing steam from the H2O being created by the cat? Sometimes if I start my car and don't let it warm up fully before turning it off, the next time I start it there is a bunch of white smoke/steam.

It's best to go for a quick drive to warm up the car rather than just idling it, as that causes everything to heat up faster and burn off the water. Also idling warm up runs rich, and can cause the cat and O2 sensor to clog. Quicker warmup means less rich running time
