Check the oil filter.

I have seen quite a few S2000 engine fires start due to an oil filter that spun off. The hot oil hits the header under pressure and ignites immediately.

Glad you are ok man...

Sucks to hear, but glad you are safe. Hopefully insurance is good to you and you can climb back into the seat of another S2K.

Geeze Man, what a horrible situation. Really sorry for your loss. Were you able to see which side the flames were coming from when you opened the hood? I'm just curious if it was on the right (header) side, or left (fuel) side. I think when mostly stock s2000's catch fire if definitely stirs the pot of concern for all owners.

Thanks

Sorry but very soon the the shock will wear off and your spirits will lift as you start to comtemplate your next S. If there was anything you would have done differently the first time around, you now have the oppertunity to get exactly what you wish you had bought in the first place. Even if this statement isn't true and you really did have the car that met all your wants and needs, you still will be able to duplicate it. The daze will wear off and a new excitement will begin. I suggest you start window shopping now. This will count as the exact therapy you truely need. GL

and the majority of the heat from the flames was on the fuel side.

Sorry for your loss. It likely is not a loose oil filter, as that would not cause your engine to overheat. You might look for a blow head gasket. Good luck...
