Default S2000 gas mileage?!

About 2 months back I noticed that ever since I got my car (2002 S2000), I had been hitting the gas station very frequently. So I decided to actually monitor my gas consumption. I was a bit upset at what I found.
I got 165 miles from the time of fillup to when the last LED gas light went out!
These were city/local only miles since I never drive more than 5-10 miles at once.
Also, when I cruise on a street, I usually keep the RPMs around 3100-3300. (with the occasional VTEC slide around a corner...).
Assuming that I had about 20 miles worth left before the car actually stalled from lack of fuel, my gas mileage is

(165+20)/13.2 = 14.0 mpg City driving

I knew I wouldn't get the factory rated 20mpg City, but still this is upsetting.
Are others seeing this same result?

s9000

There was just a thread about gas milage. A few of us keep detailed records on spreadsheets. Here are my results:

Over the course of 2550 miles I have averaged 21.67 mpg. My worst tankful was 18.39, my best 27.44. My miles are mostly stop and go in commuting traffic.

Your milage seems quite low. Some of it is probably due to driving style and the fact that you drive short distances. You might want to keep detailed records on a spreadsheet as your numbers are only estimates. I find it very difficult to estimate based on the gas gauge.

I get 32mpg + on the highway with the cruise on and at least 21 in the city.

S9000, -----------there is a more accurate way of checking your mileage. Just use miles driven with the gallons you replace starting with a full tank. The more you run out of the tank and have to replace the more accurate your reading will be.
Do not use the light on your guage, it is just not very accurate.

If you are getting 14 mpg , something is really wrong.

I typically get between 25 and 28 mpg around town. I've never really checked it after driving it any distance on a highway, mainly because I don't do that very often.

But its weird i used to get at least 300km with one tank and now 250km.
I have 13800km on my car and i used to get the 300 km from the car at about 10000km but now i get the 250km.No matter what kind of driving!Still the same.

I average about 22mpg. Seems to do a bit better with more miles.

So far, mine has gone from 25 to 29 MPG. 29 MPG was mostly on the highway at 70-80MPH on a recent trip to FL . When I do use my S, I normally would drive at least 20 miles one way with minimal stop and go traffics.

Why is this always brought up? You drive at high revs, it uses more gas than at lower revs! People are so dumb ... duh! At 45 mph in 2nd gear, you use MUCH more gas than if you were in 6th. Get a grip, folks. You want fuel economy or street racing? Can''t have both! Geeze! You'd think the new moon was sucking brain cells from people's craniums.
