I hate jet lag.

Found this. It's pretty funny. Everything's beating the S2000 these days. The Celica GT-S (6.8) and now the Acura (6.6). Learn to drive your S2000! That will personally be my first mod and until I get that right no other mods.

Seriously...it seems odd to me that seems WAY too whack. I've driven the CL-S and it's a fine and dandy car and all...but that S2K owner just....I dunno. $hit happens I guess...it's too bad he can't drive his car. Makes my baby look bad...

It's funny how everyone takes advantage of proclaiming a 'kill' on a car that is clearly not designed for straight line drag racing. Why don't these clowns race on a circuit and then we'll see who makes the 'kill'.

To be honest, I considered buying the CL-S. I test drove it and it's punchy and the suspension is quite firm.

You can say the S2000 isn't made for off-the-line racing, but neither is the CL-S. No excuse! The CL-S is an entry-level luxury coupe! I hear all these times of low 14, high 13 quarter-mile times and how it's possible to get 5.x runs easy when dropping that clutch at high rpm... how you can take on a new Mustang GT fairly easily...

I don't know why I take it so personally in that internet board kind of way, but I have a vested interest in the S2000--I love the car and hate to hear it when it gets beat. In this case, by an Acura that simply exists for people who couldn't afford the BMW 330.

If you can't max out the S2000 when you're going to hang your balls out there... then don't race! The CL-S guys were shocked, I'm shocked as well. I want S4 respect! haha

I had attempted to drag race the S2000 at the track
but got rained out. Hoping for better results this
year........ but..... it sure seemed like the handfull
of people who did take it drag racing, including some
folks who had some experience, where running mid to high
14's

some guys in Virginia reported high 14's, low 15's and i
think y2ks2k ran a 14.6 w/ 1k miles on his. this is not
much faster than a CL-S, so a quicker reaction time and
the S2000 loses.

CL-S would be a easy to race car...step on the gas (they are
all tiptronic (or whatever honda calls it).

I ran constant 14.70's 3 times in a row with the top down. With the top up I was in the area of 14.0 to 14.3. Conditions not differing much across days.

The CL-S has Comptech headers on it...I've heard that they add in the neighborhood of about 20-25 hp...that would make it about a 280-285 hp car, but regardless the S2000 should still take him.

I don't see how headers alone can add so much power on that car...

What is it with people loosing races to much slower cars.

Just dropping the clutch is not enough. You have to master the amount of gas to give (ie: modulate the pedal) and get a feel for the cars take-offs.

The best i have seen a Cl-S do was a 14.7 on a day i was running the 13.8s. Most of his runs were in the 14.9-15.0 range while most of mu runs were in the 13.9-14.0 range.

So being beaten by a car you have a 10 car length advantage on is crappy driving. Lets say the headers gave the dude .2 which is about 20 HP (which i doubt). That would still give the s2k guy 8 car lengths ......

Launching is much more then just revving and dropping the clutch... I wish i could somehow demonstrate the technique.

My girlfriend had a Type S and we raced from a first gear roll. Basically, I let the clutch out easy and she floored it. Of course with that jump, it was a pretty close race and she actually pulled out a little on me until I hit VTEC and evened it up.

Then I hit second gear

I didnt launch the S2000 and still won, so that guy must not be as good a driver as he says, or 25hp on the CL-S really makes it pull harder. I was moving out in 2nd gear... never got to third due to the next light being red.

I think it shows how the S2000 performs at its weak point... it still won in my case. and the CL-S is a no-brainer to drive. You just floor it and go.

Scot: Represent us well.

Sev: You're so money, dude.

S2K_CLS: That's how it SHOULD be.
