Don't the CL-s' run 14.8ish? I assume they get quicker
with time just like the S2000 and Type R's too. that
means we are now talking about a dead even race,
assuming the stook guy can shift gears at or near
redline. - Scot

[b]CL-S is more of a competitor for the Type R IMO since they run similar 1/4 mile time.

Just thought I'd add my two bits to this issue - our neighbor has a bronze Type S. Believe it or not, his friend has a CL-S as well, I've sometimes seen both parked side by side. He's a little strange, I pulled in one night and he followed me to my parking spot and asked me "if i want to go?" I was a little confused with his accent, but eventually we set up a little race on a back straight 4 lane road (fields both sides, no cops, no roadkill, no 2 year old children etc), and raced.

He preferred the 'three honk rule,' go on the third honk. I beat him by a good car length through 3rd gear (80ish mph) even with the clutch problem unfixed and an H-rated left rear tire. Talk about shift-wobble.

Since those have been fixed I have no doubt the s2k would clean up on a CL-S. He mentioned he had comptech headers as well. They must be popular in the CL-S crowd. Then again, let's remember the interiors of our cars.. I think I'd rather lounge in one of those than be so snug in the s2k.

You want to go? haha

Solid real-world showdown. You should ask him to go again with your car fixed. Better yet, unload all that Infinity stuff and want to go again.

Definitely like the interior of the CL-S. Very cushy. love those seats.

As an owner of both cars, I'll have to say that if you know how to launch and drive the stook then you can beat the CLS. I'm still getting use to driving the stook because of the rear wheel drive...with the CLS, all you have to do is turn off the VSA and mash the pedal to the metal to get a good launch. Both cars are a testament to Honda's engineering...so I feel fortunate to have both. Let's see...I'm still trying to figure out how I can race myself. SpaceNeedle- you're absolutely right about those seats...love'em too. They're like a cushy lounge chair after an exhilerating romp in the S2K.

I only like the seats, though.

And I don't think it's a matter of a S2000 launch experienced driver "can" beating the CL-S. It's about a guy who knows how to launch like Sev handing the CL-S his ass so there are no doubts as to what's up between the roadster and the Acura coupe.

Having test driven the CL-S and mashing on the throttle from a stop and speeding up onto an on-ramp, the acceleration wasn't all that impressive. I could see why it was a mid/high six second car.

Thanks for everyone's thoughts on this topic.
