Yea... but now a days Civic Si's can hit corners "almost" as well as an S2000... and C6 Vette's corner better than S2000's.
Where do you get this information?

Last time the SoCal and NorCal track S2000's went to Buttonwillow Raceway using CW13 configuration (more turns) they outran all the vettes present.

Traffic as competition. I love it.

Haha- I had a DeLorean try to race my at a stop light. I smoked as did some kid in a VDub on his other side. I think I read the 0-60 was like 9sec on that car.

Thats true, the early '80s 308s were particullarly slow. The late '70s ones were actually faster (due to emissions regulations being less strict). And then the quattrovalvole was a step up.... probably the LS400 run was with the early '80s slug version, though I realize I have wondered off your point... (sorry, I just love the 308/328 era Ferraris too much).
It's not always about speed. I have to say everytime some fool goes on about how his new car is as fast as mine (like a friend's 550 bimmer). I simply point out that my car is around eight years old, I'm glad you finally caught up.
Besides, as others have pointed out... FI will rectify this situation easily.

I thought it was worse? Some magazine had it ~11.

Some suggestions:
1) Go to a track day. You'll get an entirely new appreciation for the car.
2) Forced induction
3) Exige S

Alternatively, if it's a high priority for you to be able to out-accelerate Mercedes in traffic, you can do that just fine with a Jeep SRT8, so I'm not really sure what your criteria is for determining car desirability...

^^ The Corvette is good in a straight line and in the corners. Vette's dominate GT racing. Sure on a really tight technical track the S2000 may be better, but the Vette will outperform it everywhere else. I don't even like American cars, but facts are facts.

I'm not waiving a "Vettes Suck" flag, I just find them to be a bit more of a crude tool that I would not purchase. They are decent cars though and do perform well.

So many wrong things with this statement -

1. Who is talking about GT racing here? Those are race cars, not stock models.
2. Dominating? maybe in ALMS in the GT2 category against the Aston Martins. BUT 3. What is the relevance here?
4. Is the OP looking to buy into the GM factory team effort?

The simple point is that our cheap little honda outruns most off the showroom cars in twisty tracks - you don't have to like that and you don't have to drive an S2000 - this is just one of its best attributes.

^^ Stock for stock, I think a new Corvette will outperform a new S2000 on most any track. In an autocross the Vette has no chance imo.

agreed - but the S remains one of the best handling cars out there, not to mention $20,000 cheaper.
