S2000 Handling in the twisties?!
I don't care what those times are - every place you can look has different times for every car...Me, or anyone on i-club for that matter, would more than happily take on an S2000 on any type of race....especially twisties, cause we would really own.....The new Car & Driver has the WRX placed @ 5.4 seconds 0 - 60.....which is as fast, if not faster, than the S2000....On top of that, I've owned both cars, and believe me the WRX out handles the S2k by a long shot, and is just as fast in a straight line.....

2001 SCCA Solo II National Results
Best time (WRX) 52.843 - good for 7th place in G Stock
Best time (S2K) 50.379 - good for 2nd place in A Stock
Slip verified 1/4 Mile Results
Best time (stock WRX) 14.5 @ 92.72 - have heard rumours of faster (14.2) runs but no slips to back them up so far
Best time (stock S2K) 13.8 @ 100.35 - our own Sev
I'm currently looking for lap records for stock WRX and stock S2K from both Nurburgring and Laguna Seca. Suffice it to say that I'm confident of the results.
WRX is a great car, don't get me wrong. But you should be careful of wild generalizations (just as I would never claim that an S2K could beat a WRX on dirt, or that a $40k S2K could beat a $40k WRX in the 1/4 mile).
oh, and personal insults don't exactly help your argument or result in anyone taking you seriously.

I guess if the road in question had mud all over it I could see the WRX beating an s2000. I think they called it the poor mans S4 -- another fun but way too heavy pig of a car.

1+1=...???
Guys, I think the proper phrase is "fingernail grip on reality". A WRX is going to be hard pressed to even come close to my cute widdle stock Miata at an autocross, which would be the ultimate in "twisties". I'm under no illusions that the Miata is as fast as the S2000, either.
The ITR is a forgiving car, and easy to drive at its limits. However, the S2000 can go considerably faster, but it's much more difficult to keep under control at the limits. The Miata, although not blessed with the power/weight ratio of the other two cars, is easy to drive at the limits (like the ITR), has good front/rear weight balance and drives the rear wheels (like the S2000), and is between 200-350 pounds lighter than either, depending on model year and options.
I'm surprised at the reflex reaction to the Miata as being beneath consideration by "sports car" people. Then again, some people think that the Miata is front wheel drive, and then there are the people who believe that the WRX's strong suit is in handling. Those people watch too many ads on TV.
If I wanted a hatchback, it would have to be an R (well, *maybe* a WRX -- I'd have to try both and compare). As for a roadster...let's say that I agonized over the decision between an S2000 and a Miata, but I know that I'd be happy whichever one I had chosen. They both kick @ss and it's too bad I could only have one. I mainly got the Miata because the Honda dealers kept pissing me off with their smug attitudes. Maybe my next car will be an S2000 for variety's sake.

My dad's good friend has a '00 silverstone/red S2000 and I was in it once but we haven't talked to him in a month or so and I am not sure if he would let me drive the stook. He loves the car! We are gonna get in touch with him soon though and I'll see
