[B]CAR and DRIVER: remember the hardtop 350Z comparo in the dec 2002 edition? It was on top of you wannabes in most every category....i'm sure you remember. Now's your chance to be like Nancy & Sally in your cute little soft top(or hard top) along with the soft top 350Z.
My opinion on the 350Z convertible is sub-par. #1, it takes away from the sexy lines of the car & #2, it's not good in the performance category.

Xviper is welcome to "come over here and smart your mouth" any place, any time as far as I and most members of this board are concerned. I am proud to be associated with him.
Neither car is a slouch so this is a silly war to start with.
Perhaps I'm just used to rampant modification in the Miata world, but it does strike me as odd that no-one has mated a positive displacement charger to the S2K. An Eaton M62 at 9 psi would be a hoot!
Centrifugals are great for the track and gentle on the drivetrain, but amplify the S2K's power characteristic IMO in the wrong direction. Well to be blunt I think once you understand what a Centrifugal does it's ridiculous to spend the money on one unless you have a nosedive Detroit torque curve to lift.
I SUPPOSE it could be the price of entry, though. You'd need to do some expensive bottom end and drivetrain work to make an eaton or Autorotor last longer than next week. But dayum, if you had the dough that thing would be god's own chariot!

I used to think that a new Z might be something to look into. If this person is representing the new Z owners, then I'm glad that I haven't made the effort to check it out. It was all I could do to get into the cockpit. I really do not care for the ugly looks of this car, both inside and out.
It isn't just this car, it's the whole automible industry that is leaning towards ugly vehicles. Guess I'll have to hang onto mine for awhile, if this is where the industry is headed. It's a shame.

2. It's "come over here and BE a smart mouth, fool!
3. It's "you're DEAD MEAT", you dork!
It's beginning to sound like you yourself are an immigrant to the U.S.

I love the powerband of the S2k, down low there's plenty torque to take off quick. It's not enough to launch you forward wheels spinning, but then most cars that do have that, have no high end, power just drops off. Like the 350Z the torque is nice, but no high end power. I like having a car that's got enough to get around and be civilized like a normal car, but then surprises you when all hell breaks loose at 6k rpms. I love my new car I've had it a week in a half now and can't get the smile off my face.
