S2000 as Honda's crown...
I was reading today about the new Civic Si......200hp and a 8,000 rpm redline. Now I really do wish the new S2000's still had that 9,000 rpm redline, as we are losing some of our bragging rights. You guys know what I mean? It will run 14.8 and only be down 40hp versus the S2000....and it is a freaking Civic!!! I don't know, just seems like Honda needs to put more distance between the S2000 and it's Civic. Kind of like, what if Chevrolet came out with a Cobolt that made 360hp versus the Corvette's 400hp. Anyway, it's kind of hard to brag about the 8,000 rpm redline when someone else can say their kids Civic Si does that......
......
redline means nothing. I've rev my civic up to 10,000rpm, I don't think it makes a difference.
Be content with the s2000, as Honda's flagship it is a true sports car whereas the new si is marketed towards a different market.

Who cares? If you want to talk about cheap econo cars that stack up against ours, worry about the SRT-4. I'm personally happy that Honda is making a Civic that will keep pace with some of the POS kids cars made by GM.
Here's a solution for you: sell your S2000, and buy a car with more "wow" factor. A used Corvette, an older Porsche, even a first generation Viper will not cost you much more than $30,000.
Then, you can have all the bragging rights you want. It would seem an obvious mistake to own a Honda for "bragging rights".
Leave it to the rest of us to own and enjoy an excellent sports car.

I could care less what the redline is on the S2000, it's about the droptop, handling, braking, turn-in, and overall nimble feel of the car. Plus, it looks pretty sweet too.

Um, yeah. Personally I got an s2000 because I wanted a fun to drive convertible that would spend more time on the road then in the shop.
Its great when people say "nice car", but I don't recall bragging recently about the redline.
Different stroke for different folkes.

You forget to mention that the Civic is still wrong-wheel drive.
