Default s2000 Hood's window question

Hello to everyone ! I am a new owner of an s2000 and i realised that the window does not have a heater - defroster.

Instead of being happy that i got the car im getting depressed if anything in my car is ok and in good condition or not , help pls

Before buying it , ive browse through the forum what to check or what to look , ive asked many questions to the previous owner and went to a mechanic that he almost daily working on s2000 s and he is a trusted person(he also test drove it). (all this doesnt change the fact that im clueless about the car)

I've taken to pics of the hood's glass to show u. So , is this an aftermarket window? is it safe ? is the whole hood crap / aftermarket ?
whats going on? :///

Edit: Sry if its in the wrong topic!

well, i tap it with my finger and very gently with my key and it feels and sounds like glass.
but i did compare it with my friend's s2k and his glass has a HONDA sticker and it has a defroster :/

You have an aftermarket top. The "Made in USA" is one give-away. Also, The 2000-01 plastic rear windows did not have white thread sewn on the top. This does not mean you have a sub-par top.

the glass is like a legit window, you cannot mistake it for being plastic. so you probably have a plastic one. the 2000-2001 all have plastic windows. you can buy an aftermarket top that is glass and install it in your car. as far as i know, you cannot simply change the plastic to glass because the attachment design is different (i tried it before)

a new top is going to run you at least $500 plus labor. labor is expensive. expect at least $500-1000 in labor

I don't see any reason to feel bad. It isn't OEM, but it looks like a very nice top with a glass window in it. Drive the car and enjoy it.

I replaced the top on my 2001 with an EZ-On glass window top and I didn't spend the extra few bucks to get the defrost option. The top itself was fine but after having it a while I wish I had gone for the defrost model. It's a hassle to change the top but I might consider it if you live in an area where the defroster is used on a regular basis.
