S2000 or IS300
Well gettiing ready to make a decision. I put down a deposit on a yellow Honda S2000, and startin to have second thoughts about it. I heard alot of owners have had their car broken into and had the seats stolen out of them. I do like both cars very much and would love to have both, but like most things in life can't. Just wondering if you guys can help me decide. I live in an apt. and won't have it garaged as i would like. Also are the hard tops available in the US, and are we able to get the veil side kit for the s2k? They have a yellow s2k with the veil side kit for $40k with 18's on it at the dealer right now.
XaznX,
Get the IS300 if you...
-need more than 2 seats
-need a more practical car
-are lazy on maintanence
Get the S2000 if you...
-want a sports car
-want a convertable
-want something different

I can't resist the urge to flame, so:
Isn't this kind of like asking whether or not you should have a shot of ABC Tequila or a nice glass of MacCallan 18 year on the rocks with a twist.
Both will make you feel good, but one is certainly more refined and won't leave you feeling like a hundred dollars the next morning....

Having such an expensive car (either one) without keeping it in a garage is a bad idea. Why?
- increased risk of theft/break-in/vandalism
- increased risk of bumps, dings, scratches
- exposure to natural elements (rain, dirt, sun)
- can increase cost of insurance
Your profiles does not say if you live in Manhattan or Memphis, which somewhat affects the importance of a garage. Personally if I did not have a garage or could not afford one on top of the car I would not buy it. My S2000 is garaged pretty much everywhere it goes (home, work, friends)
Also in deciding between these two very different cars you should consider storage space and passengers. I think the S2000 is more ideally suited as an extra car/weekend driver and would get the IS300 if limited to one car.
my opinions only

If your not sure about buying an S2k, don't buy it. The car is not for everyone. You may end up wanting to sell it in a year (see previous posts, people replacing with CL Type-S's)
Also, I'd wait for the 5 spd to come out later this year on the IS300.
Not judging but is there some reason your thinking of buying a $33,000 car and not a house with a garage? While the S2k doesn't lose value too quickly, houses usually increase in value. I know this is over analyzing the dilema, but that's what Engineers do.
