S2000 Killer?
I found this at the Car&Driver forum.
"what do you guys thing of the opel speedster?? I just saw its review on the current car and driver. I think its pretty hot!! GM should re-name it and introduce it to the united states!! I personally will take it over the s2k. Its as fast as the s2k and handles great. Its design beats the sh1t out of the s2k too. Post pics of it to show others what I mean. "
Anyone has seen this issue? Is this true? ive never heard of this car and I do subscribe to C&D but have not seen anything.

I've read the article, but don't have a copy of it at work so I can't really remember a lot of what the article said.
The big question, should GM decide to import the Speedster, is, "What would a US-legal model be like?" It might have to gain a lot of weight: beams in the doors, impact-absorbing bumpers, air bags, etc. For a small, light car with a relatively low-powered engine, this might destroy performance. I think that's why several Lotus models haven't been imported. That, and the cost of the modifications, crash testing, etc. for the relatively few units that GM could sell. But it's nice to dream.

Pick up this month's CD March 2002.
0-60 6.3
1/4 mile 14.8
Top Speed 133mph
Not exactly an S2000 killer, but I like the looks better.
CD was luke warm towards the car, citing a lumpy engine and recalcitrant top.

So what if it beats the S2000?? There are a lot of cars which are faster in 0-60, higher top speed, better handling, higher mileage, higher cost, better interior. But I still love my S2000!
Do you buy a car just to beat everyone? Go for the big bucks then. Or built you own; that's what I'm doing right now! There are already few NA Hybrid Civic can beat S2000 easy without the Turbo!

I am a big fan of the Speedster/VX220 since the inception of the concept, but I still prefer the S2000 based on Euro. journalism reports and personal driving experience. If the car showed up at a Miata price I might consider adding one to the garage. The key word is add, not replace. If there was any car on the horizon that I would replace my S with it would be the up coming BMW Z5. If and when it arrives it looks to be a dead ringer for an S2000 coupe. CAR magazine says an M version sporting the current 3.2L inline six that the M3 runs may arrive in the Z5 in 2005-06.

I will rather perfer VAUXHALL VX220's sister, Lotus Elise.
but neither of them are s2000 killer.
After reading the EVO long term test report of VX220, that car has alot problem, and the build quality is not that great as S2000.

Guess that one more thing the Opel will 'beat' the S2000 in is 'D-E-P-R-E-C-I-A-T-I-O-N'.
It can have that win as far as I'm concerned
Pfffffffffffssssssssssss!
