Top twenty performance cars compared. First in there respective segments then the top two of each segment go on to compete with other segments. S2000 was up against MR2(!), Vauxhal VX, and Boxster S. The MR2 and the S2000 didn't make the cut to the next portion of the comparison. Funny because the writers said that in the right hands the S2000 could be the best tool of the lot ("with a tranny/engine combo that arguably is the best in the world"), but they felt that the back end was too prone to step out unexpectedly...whatever

The 911 Turbo ended up winning the thing with the Lotus Exigo(?) and Ferrari 360 as runner-ups....

All this is subjective. Car and Driver just concluded that the Porsche was too easy to drive and they liked the 360 better. Now, I'm typing this from memory. It could of been Road and Track or something. In any case, both of these magazines just did the mega-car review and the S2K was nowhere to be seen. Too cheap I guess.

Is this really a surprise? The Porsche, Ferrari, etal should be referred to as "The Usual Suspects". I guess Hondas in general, and the stook in particular, just aren't "sexy" enough to make the cut. Just think, if the s2k had won, everybody would want one!

Car magazine along with a host of other British mags have consistantly rated the S2000 poorly. Most have indicated that in the right hands the car awesome, but that it is too difficult for the average driver to get all of the performace out of the car. They also note the rear-end problem more than not.

I totally disagree with the read-end problem and most who have put this car on a road course will agree with me on this. Autox is a different beast, so I hope banannie (sp?) won't take a big issue with this.

Hey Meat-

I think the S2000 is a hoot to drive- but it isn't the fastest car on the track becuase of its' stock handling deficiencies- namely, the back end stepping out way too soon, the digressive shocks and soft springs. Although, that's what makes it so much fun... Japanese Drift Car to the max! Cleaning up the handling portion of the car is pretty simple- mostly swapping parts out for more appropriate high performance parts, that's it...

Agreed, if your looking for objective reviews, Brittish magazines are not going to have them...

The Brits have never been objective about anything made offshore.
