If this car is produced, I will certainly consider a domestic car:

I love American V-8 muscle car the only problem is reliability. Will they get you from point A-to-point-B? Yes... but if your time is as valuable as mine I prefer not to spend 2-3 weeks per year in the service department lounge. I own a year 2000 S2K and over the past 3-yrs (even with a first year production car) my service time has been minimal. Don't get me wrong I am mainly a U.S. car fan but as soon as you get the list of 5-10 problems fixed, something else is not working, then something else. It never ends! I've owned late model performance cars where the brakes or AC only worked when it wanted to. Corvettes as nice as they are have electrical malfunctions that keep GM dealers constantly busy. That hasn't changed for years.

In the case of reliability I'm glad S2000's are assembled in Japan.

Noth'n like the torque of a a nasty U.S. V-8 !!!!

You can do it with an RX7! They have a kit for the LT1 and LS1.

So can you really put a Chevy engine in a RX7?? Thats pretty cool since those engines are nightmares, my neighbor has it and he already changed engine at 90k miles and my other friends hanged engines below 50k mils.

If I could have a realistically built s2000 -- not a supercharged mega monster hyper 500+ horsepower s2k -- I'd like an i-VTEC version of the F20 along with a high quality intake and exhuast. If I could have 240HP & 165lbs/ft I'd be happy.

Not at the flywheel.

Well, here is my wish list:

Kill the S2000 and make it the collectible roadster.

Return of the Prelude on the S2000 platform.

Lighten the frame of the S2000 (aluminum or CF).
Coupe (with a very very small back seat)
260HP 2.2L 9K Redline NA (F22C)
Max weight 2400 lbs
Price: 35-37K

0-60: 5Sec
1/4: 13.2@105

Here is what I want....(I don't think I'm as greedy as most of you)

1. Honda flavor
2.X liter I4 with 240-280HP, same torque (more would be nice)
Retractable hardtop
less than 3000 lbs
same or higher redline
crappy stereo with lots of speakers (so I won't feel bad stripping them all)
minimalist design...like now
same price

2. Acura flavor
3.x V6 with 280-350 HP, a whole lot more torque please
Retractable hardtop
50-100HP IMA
less than 3200 lbs would be ideal
awesome stereo
power everything please with NAV
I'd pay 40-50k for it depending on the specs vs SLK32.

3. Honda IMA flavor
Same as 1 with 50-100HP IMA on top of the I4
I'd pay between 35 and 40k for it.

What do you guys think?
I think it's pretty reasonable.
The Acura option(2) will probably apeal to the largest audience.
It's not nearly as racy, but it is still sporty and luxurious.
Honda can probably sell over 20,000 of those a year, taking away from Z4, TT, boxter and SLK sales. In fact, if they can have the specs like the DN-X (without the look or the room) they might be able to sell over 40,000 of those a year.

I know DN-X looks weird, but I don't mind seeing that as well.
However, with the new design and the specs, I don't think I can affort that.

Modifying the S2000 design should make it cheaper.
