S2000...little changes? radical changes? big block V8? talk about it here
My wish for future S2000's.
An automotive-savy guy (I can't remember who) once said "to get better perfomance, add less weight." This somewhat joking remark summarizes my view on possible improvements for a new design S2000 that would be the cheapest move, and one that wouldn't disturb balance and handling. My wife used to have a Miata, and I sure hope Honda does not follow the evolution of this car! Underpowered from day one, Mazda added small amounts of additional horsepower and torque every few years. But with each change, more weight was added. As a result, a 1990 Miata with 116 hp will outrun a 2003 with 142 hp! Hope Honda does not folow this sad example.
Thanks,
Richard

Actually, I'm one of the founding members and editors at TOV. You'll just have to trust me on the I5 - or not - its kind of a moot point these days, eh? :-) Honda has actually made I5's before in production, so its not an unusual engine combo.

Honda S2500
I-5, F25C 300 HP, 190 ft lbs 9500 rpm red line, Honda S2500.
Acura SSX
Acura should have its own version with an F40C engine, a 4 liter V8 380 HP, 306 ft lbs, 9300 rpm red line.
For both, revised rear suspension with wider track and rear fender flares, should give the car a Cobraesque stance and improved handling.
Improved rear suspension so we get more than 5000-7000 miles on rear tires.
Premium sound system option with subwoofer.
Fully retractable soft top - should retract and be invisible in down position under panel.
Flat bottom steering wheel.
Standard lower front x brace.
17" wheels lighter than current 16's.
Strenghthened drive train, clutch, differential.
Horn which commands attention.
