Take some ear plugs, just in case the noise gets to you. If you hate foam plugs you should have some custom silicone plugs made (by pouring in your ear) -- very comfortable.

I'm gonna take my S to Dallas around Memorial Day weekend for a family reunion. To make things even more fun, I'm gonna take my dad to an auto-x while I'm there. That's a 24-hour (at speed limit) trip each way, and I don't have much more than 2 days either way, so I'm only making one side detour. I've already made the trip the scenic way several times in the last decade anyway.

After about 800 miles, I drove my S from D.C. to Tampa. It was niiiiccceee. I do have to say though that I was alone, and based on my wife's comments, I'm not so sure how your passenger will enjoy the ride. I did my trip in Dec. so I couldn't put the top down 'til I was in S.C. but it was still a very nice drive.

I drove myself from Houston to D.C. and thoroughly enjoyed the trip. I must admit the interstate wore on me, so I deliberately took some back roads through Alabama just for the whee! factor.

I highly recommend enjoying the mountain twisties!

Ask me again in two weeks... I plan on driving from Chicago to Houston -- 1,200 miles in two days. I'm actually looking forward to this.

Originally I had planned to do a three-week cross-country trip later next month (Sac2KDays), but since I just started a new job, that's pretty much out for the moment. The feedback I got when I told other owners about it was that the ride would be enjoyable and that the only issue would be trunk space for whatever stuff you'd want to take along for the drive. That might be an issue for you?

It's a chore on a long trip. The car is noisy, let's face it. And noise makes you tired. More than anything else. I don't like the sound above about 65 mph. A nice quiet Caddy is easier on the bod. But if you can find a few curvy roads, the S is great. But I drive my Corsica for trips. I am older, but I still have my hearing.

I found the car to be very easy on long road trips. I have numerous 3-4hr drives and had no problem. Just two weekends ago I went 750 miles each way through some of the most barren waste land to Phoenix and had no issues. Well only one issue, had to wear earplugs due to my Top Secret exhaust.

Done many 5 hour trips, as well as a couple trips from boston MA to memphis TN.

No doubt about it, it gets a little uncomfortable. My drive to memphis was very enjoyable...but coming back, the novelty had worn off, and the drive was simply uncomfortable.

I was 60-70 lbs heavier than I am now though (was 250lbs). That probably had something to do with it. I imagine I'd enjoy it more this year.

Last August we drove from the San Fancisco Bay Area through Nevada, Utah.
Wyoming. Idaho, Montana into Canada (Alberta) over through Vancouver (B.C.)
over to Vancouver Island then Washington, Oregon and back to the Bay Area.
18 days and over 5,000. The S2 performed great and no complaints from the wife or myself. Top down all the way except for about 20 minutes in Canada.

As said before a new stereo that plays MP3s etc was a big plus along with a bra.
It is a great road trip car.
