S2000...made in the USA or Japan?
Hey guys, I had a quick question that I was hoping you could help me out with. Obviously the S2000 Is a Japanese car, being a Honda and all...but my question is, are they built in America? I am assuming that they indeed are, but I wanted to double check.
The reason I need to know this is because I will be importing a S2000 from the US into Canada. Duty states that if the car is not from North America, I will need to pay 6.1% Duty on it. But if it is built in the US, there is no duty. Any help would be great, Thanks! |
look at the decal from the window
100% japan construction. 0% USA construction all parts/assembly=japan look in the papers from purchase for window decal |
Built in Japan. 1st character of VIN is "J", indicating as such. However, it's manufactured for sale as a US vehicle. Are you sure the duty isn't just for cars that come from outside the US?

Im pretty sure I would have to pay duty on it if it was built in Japan. Anything that is not made in the US you need to pay duty on (Im pretty sure, I need to double check)
Thanks for the info though, much appreciated. |

All s2000 are made in Japan. Around May/June 2004 they changed which factory in Japan they were made in but every s2000 is made in Japan. |
