S2000...made in the USA or Japan?
Hey guys, I had a quick question that I was hoping you could help me out with. Obviously the S2000 Is a Japanese car, being a Honda and all...but my question is, are they built in America? I am assuming that they indeed are, but I wanted to double check.
The reason I need to know this is because I will be importing a S2000 from the US into Canada. Duty states that if the car is not from North America, I will need to pay 6.1% Duty on it. But if it is built in the US, there is no duty.
Any help would be great, Thanks!

Built in Japan. 1st character of VIN is "J", indicating as such. However, it's manufactured for sale as a US vehicle. Are you sure the duty isn't just for cars that come from outside the US?
Im pretty sure I would have to pay duty on it if it was built in Japan. Anything that is not made in the US you need to pay duty on (Im pretty sure, I need to double check)
Thanks for the info though, much appreciated.

All s2000 are made in Japan. Around May/June 2004 they changed which factory in Japan they were made in but every s2000 is made in Japan.
