CR gets noticed. As a car nut, when I see a well kept S2000, I wind up staring at it. Did you know the S2000 has unique chassis / frame/ engine/ transmission / suspension, etc., design all designed/engineered/ manufactured specifically for this model? You may already know this, but these are some of the reasons why the S2000 is a modern classic with supercar characteristics, a baby exotic, if you will, at least the CR with its rarity for now.

If you have a customized S2000 (especially exhaust) you will probably be noticed. If you have a stock S2000 people will notice you but not as much (Unless they like the car or know something about cars).

But isn't it better to be ignored for a good reason than noticed for a bad one?

Actually isn't it better to not be noticed? If you are noticed by normal everyday people that probably means you are also noticed by the police. People with Lamborghini's and stuff would probably rather not be noticed because after a while I am sure it gets annoying.

So, I hate when people look at me or even say 'nice car.'

The only people who fuss over a S today are ppl who don't know cars.

The S has been around for almost 10 YEARS!!!

It really is nothing special. It can be had for less than 10 thousand dollars if you really want one bad.

With almost 56,000 S's sold in the USA to date, it's JUST a hunda.

If the S looked boring, If the S were not a convertible I'd still buy one.
56,000 of one car is a lot to you? divide by the number of states thats only about 1120 per state (if i did that right..) and of course one state is more likely to have more S2k's than another...

and when people are saying nice car just take it as it is..whether they know what it is or not they're just complimenting a cool looking car..you don't have to know what a car is or isn't capable of to know that you like the way it looks, for all you know the guy saying "nice car" could be someone who is an enthusiast and has had experience with porsches, lambos, ferraris, etc. and still manages to appreciate a car like the S.

I've gotten compliments on my tC from people who know a hell of a lot more about cars than I do and also from people who probably don't even know the firs thing about cars but I always say "thanks" or at least acknowledge them.

I can go on but basically the points your making have no relevance, and your making out everyone who acknowledges the S as ignorant. What makes you think that if they KNEW if the car has been in production for almost 10 years or if they can find one for cheap its going to affect there opinion?

It sure as hell hasn't affected mine

ok i'm done now

I don't think you can really make any meaningful statements that are that broad. I mean, as others have said, it depends on where you live, how many other S's are around, etc etc etc.

Define "normal".

Does this bother you? If so, you probably should have considered a Civic or something IMO.

I live in Socal and do get quite a bit of looks and stares. This state probably has the most besides say Florida or somewhere like that but I still don't see one every day. Sometimes I go for a few weeks without seeing one on the road and I drive through the heart of LA and Orange County.

I welcome compliments or any stares as this is a unique car. I feel no shame or embarassment. Yes it's a Honda, but a unique individual one. Some people admire it for how it looks and performs, not simply by it's badge and I respect that.

Sure you might not drive the car to be noticed, but it is simply being a well designed 2 door convertible roadster. I'm sure very few of us here actually "show it off". Remember, many people can't afford a $30,000+ car (or $18,000 used) that fits two people and has barely any storage space, let alone as a weekend only car. By your statement I would assume you grew up in a wealthier environment and you seem to take things for granted. I grew up in a good household, great neighborhood, and was a bit too spoiled by the parents too, but I appreciate every little thing in life. Also, a well performing car usually has looks to match, so finding a car that performs as well as the S2000 in a "boring" package probably doesn't and will not ever exist.

Accept compliments and reply with a smile and a positive gesture of your own, a little smile goes a long way. Brushing off a nice gesture by someone else will also make you look very supercilious and make people think opposite of what you actually intend. Not to be overly mean, but that kind of attitude really irritates me. I know you don't mean to be like that, just the underlying tone from what you wrote suggests it. Returning a nice gesture has nothing to do with a car, it's just being polite and respectful. Whew!

In Canada they very rare, probably because MSRP was 50,000+. 2006 sales in the entire country totaled 146 cars lol seriously, I only saw 5-10 this whole summer and that's only due to increasing amount being imported from US.

If I were driving a new Ford F-150 or a new Buick Regal I'm sure I'd notice others driving the same cars .We always notice something different and we always notice the mundane if that is what we're driving.
Production numbers keep the S2000 in the realm of exoctics. The appearence of an S2000 in a lane next to you will always get your attention and will also get the attention of most other drivers. It could be a glance or it could be a stare but this car will not go unnoticed by the majority orf other drivers. Ninety-nine percent of all glances and stares will be of approval, the other one-percent are aliens from other worlds who walk and drive and live amongst us.
