I have a 2002 S2000 When I was looking to buy a new car there was not many choices of sports cars out there that was well balanced and affordable..think about it no Zs no Supras and no RX-7s plus 50000 plus Bmw roadster 54000 vettes 65000+ M3s ect...I did my research also looked for fun factor and when a friend of mine got one a 2001 I was like great car and he took me for a test drive and I was sold...Yeah its no torque monster and yeah its hard to launch the car from a stop light but it grows on you and you have you learn how to drive it and know its character and so far its been a learning experience to drive it and get use too...Now I know how to Vtec and enjoy the cars engine and I know the cars limit in handling its a fun noisy roadster and to enjoy the car is to break it in and learn how it functions once you master it you can enjoy it much much more....Now the cars has 4200miles and the motor seems to feel more powerful as it ages like fine wine and now its a monster to me and a unique one as everywhere I go the S2000 intimidates others and also attracts and also surprises as well as people underestimate its potential...The car is a raw functional race car...And as time goes on Honda will adapt and hopefully keeps the same F1 inspired principles and evolve its creation....Remember its the driver that makes the car!!!! Never the opposite

bieg,bieg,bieg.....please don't tell me how much you've read about cars with "character" in bad magazines.....go drive one and then make your own decision.i had, until recently, a REAL lotus 7 s2..no leaks, ran like the hobbs of hell...yes.it was unique and was REALLY a sports-racing car thinly disguised for street use.

i'm currently driving a '58 356 porsche normal coupe[alternating with the s2000.]....a relic and the up to the minute icon? perhaps.but the old porsche has tons of pure driver appeal and"character" wereras the honda is a cleanly efficient machine that, for me, has yet to mature into relm of great cars.

still love it,but i don't worship it.

Those who discuss this issue in favor of the S2000 having a V-6 don't understand the historical perspective of the car or the significance of the 2 liter engine. Anyone could have made a V-6 and stuck into the engine bay of the S2000. But the car was an engineering excersize to celebrate Honda's fiftieth anniversary. The engine in the S was the introduction of a new engine line to the Honda brand that will find application in most every Honda built for the next several years. Honda's history IS racing. And the 2 liter engine was the standard for racing cars for many years. There were other classes with larger motors, but it was the 2 liter classification that had the most sophisticated engineering. Honda's more from less philosophy could not have been better expressed than with the S2000. The muscle car era was based on cramming a big motor in a small car. Welcome to the era of finesse.

why of course honda's had a great history of racing.....just look at their record shattering bikes of old...50's,125's250's 500's....with 1,2,4,5 and 6 cyls...the early gp cars had v's [wasn't there a transverse v-12,or was it a v- 10? can't remember....just occurred...i think it was a 1.5 lit.water cooled v-12 and later a 3.0 lit. inline air-cooled v-12 ..anyway,i'm sure glad honda didn't stick to an inline four .....

as i recall. luigi traveri's 125cc FIVE was faster than the factory 250 fours...but hey, that's OLD honda racing history...how'bout the siamesed V-4/8????

The Skip Barber School is run out of Lime Rock in Conneticut. Depending on what course you take and what time of the year you go it can be anywhere from $1500 to $3500 (about I don't have the brochure handy). The 3 day racing school that I am taking uses their Formula Dodge (Like a Formula Ford) cars and qualifies you for your SCCA Competition License.

I am definitely NOT in denial for purchasing my S2000. It is simple; BE AN EDUCATED CONSUMER!

I thoroughly researched the S2000 and knew its capabilities and specifications before I purchased it. By the way, I owned an olds 442 with more horsepower than I ever needed, drove many corvettes, GTOs, and worked and drove a multitude of roadsters during the 70's. The S' is not a dragster but a top notch roadster. It happens to be the best car, pound for pound, dollar for dollar, horsepower per displacement, that I ever owned. Period.

Nastinupe, if you just LIKE the car then sell it.
If you LOVE the car then keep it. Very simple huh?

I too wish my S2000 had more torque below 6k rpm, but I still love the car that's why let her sleep in my garage.

I'm sorry that no Honda dealer let you test drive the S2000. I was looking at a local newspaper auto classified section the other day, and I was surprise to find THREE MY02 S2000 with low milege for sale.
