The S2000 needs a V6
Did you even read Bieg's post?
And like Triple H said none of us are in denial, I was looking at a Z3 3.0 V6 BEFORE I bought the S2000. You know what changed my mind? I test drove BOTH and loved the S2000.

I don't think a 6 would neccessarily ruin the car, but to just put something along the lines of the accord V6 in there would just be awful. Think about an NSX engine in there......VRRROOOOOOOOMM
If Honda ups the displacement to 2.2 or 2.3L, what does that do to the mechanicals, in order for it to survive 9K? What V6 configuration would wind that high?
For me, the 9K redline is 90% of the engine's attraction.

Hey I like the s2000 its a great handling sports car but with times changing I hope honda does put in a more powerful engine V6 I6 Bigger 4 whatever its takes because BMW and Benz have monster engines in there roadster and slk 315 to 349 hp and the new boxster will be in the 300hp range and plus not only that more sedans and and cars are coming with alot more power in them so hey I agree more Horsepower and a Newer version of the s2000 make a better one that tops the s2000 like and S2800 or a S3000
280 or 300plus Hp

honda's last 2.2l performance motor (the h22a1/4/6) had much poorer geometry, and wouldn't live (or produce power) up to 9000RPM.
i find it interesting that the new M3 motor has almost identical geometry to the H22, and a redline of 8000RPM (slightly higher than the H at 7600). that motor seems to be having a bit of a tough time in the real world.

GeminiS2 is right. In about 2 years, the S2000 will have the weakest engine of the pack. I don't know the numbers on the Z4, but I am sure that the M4-Roadster or whatever they are going to call it will be a monster. The Boxter S is stronger, and the SLK AMG is a killer as well. I mean, we can look at statistics all day, but for us who just want more of a kick without pushing the car to 8,000 rpms, making exact shifts, while simultaneously reading an RPM output chart, I believe that a larger engine is called for. Let the engineers worry about the mechanics of the car. When Honda finally put a V6 in the Accord in 95, they had to make many adjustments, but in the end, it was a stronger car, and performace didn't lack either. 80% of the time, I am not pushing my car, so I do not get to appreciate the top end performace as much, but I like to get some improved zip between 0 and 50. If we don't... the only cars we will be able to beat up on in a few years are Miata's and civic's with stickers and oversized spoilers.
