Im currently in the market of buying a new car. The 2 cars im looking at are the Celica GT-S, and of coarse the S2000. Yes I know one car is much better than the other but lets ignore that for now and compare more real life type things like space. I would be using the car for a daily driver and may need to fit a some luggage in there once a year or something. My question is, how much space do you actually have in the S2000? Is it actually that bad of a car to haul around a couple bags? What kind of stuff can you fit behind the seats? Basically im just asking what kind of things can and can't you do with the S2000. The only reasons I would get a Celica would be price or the space problem. To me it looks like the trunk can hold just enough of the things that you would need but I haven't really looked into it and am anxious for an answer. What trunk do you think the S2000 compares to so I have an idea? I know most of you will say get the S2000 regardless of what it can't do but I just want some pros and cons about why the S2000 would be better than a Celica.

Also any other things that you can't do in the S2000 post that too

Thanks for your opinions.

Edit: Never liked spelling

You're talking about two totally different cars! Get a test drive in each and form your own opinions. I have an S2000 which is my only car. We do the weeks shopping no problem. You'll have to have the new 36" T.V. delivered.! The simple truth is we have to make allowances for choosing this car as our only car. In the ice and the snow on stock tyres it's a pain at least, undriveable at worst . In the dry with the top down it's the best driving experience you're likely to get anywhere.............period!

you can put 2 "carry on type bags" in the truck. Unless you are really short, nothing can go behind the seats.

Yea, I think that if I were to get a Celica I would be very dissapointed due to all the talk about the S2000 and since a used is only a couple thousand more. The ability of using the car for many every day tasks just comes across me when I look at a convertible.

Do what I did; forget real-life and practicality issues and just pursue your dreams. Small issues cannot stand in your way. You'll regret it if you get the Celica, not unless it is the car you always wanted.

I'm supporting one of the few common ideas, go out and test drive both cars intensively / extensively however you like just get to know these 2 machines of your purchase choice. Then make a decision yourself, you came to an S2000 board and you will find a majority of people leaning towards the S2000. I'm not saying that the Celica is a better choice over the S2000 or vice-versa but it's what you want and what you expect from the car if you pay for the choice.

Bulletin boards are good for sharing common interests, research, understanding and knowing more people of whom enjoy a same thing as you. To make a purchase choice through bulletin boards, that to me is very inappropriate and certainly I won't be listening to anyone's suggestion to pick one out of two choices. Because this is one opinion that is based on a personal preference at the end of the day. Some like the Celica for the spacious reasons, cheaper pricing, able to sit more than 4 etc. Some will choose the S2000 because of performance reasons etc. At the end, you should be doing the real offline test driving ... Not looking at bulletin boards for a purchase answer.

The BBs are be useful for a prospective buyer in making a list of things that bug people about the car. When you go do a test drive, see if the things on the list bug *you*. For example, I constantly hear the whining about the lack of torque on the S2k. I was afraid the car would be a gutless wonder. When I test drove one I paid particular attention to this, and discovered that for me the car is perfectly tractable. Below 5000rpm the car feels like a strong Miata. Perfectly fine for everyday use in traffic. In fact, you could consider the S2k a premium limited edition miata if you never go above 6000 rpm. However, I also found the top end rush to be especially invigorating - the car feels like a turbo spools up around 6000rpm. To get that much power out of a miata would require forced induction. That would bring the price of the car very close to the MSRP of an S2000, with zero warranty.

My point is that a statistical sampling of problems is likely to give you a short list of thing to look for. If they don't bother you - great, you've found your car.

(I'm still trying to convince my wife that we can manage without my Subaru...)

Take a test drive, you will know immediately which one is best for you.

Take a load of whatever crap you intend on hauling around down to a dealer (luggage or whatever) and try to fit it in the trunk, if that's your big concern.

I travel in my S on business and vacation with the wife. No problems for me. Can fit one carry-on bag in the "hole" of the trunk and the suit-bag fits over that. Also room for the computer bag and brief case on the passenger seat. Found room inside the spare tire for a couple of towels and car wash soap and Z-6 for cleaning up the S.
Best part is the "H" on the car (HONDA)!
