Default s2000 passenger seatback rattle

I did a search on this, and my problem isn't the passenger seatbelt.

When I hit a dcent sized bump the passenger seatback shakes and makes a rattle noise. Of course this doesn't happen when there is a passenger in the car.

I can duplicate this rattle if I hit the passenger seatback with my right arm while driving and it makes the same noise.

I moved the seatback forward and back and it still seems to do it in any position. There just seems to be a little too much play in the seatback.

Any ideas?

I've had this complaint for a while now too! Unfortunately I know of no solution to the problem. I'm going to the dealer sometime soon, I'll let you know what they say.

Mine does it when upright. But if I lean it back a bit from straight up, and then slide it all the way back, it doesn't do it.

If the passenger seat is all the way back and reclined as far as it will go, it will be touching the wall behind it. When you go over a bump, it knocks on the wall and makes a rattling sound. If this is the case, you should be able to fold the seat forward and see exactly where it is hitting because there will be the beginnings of wear marks. I used to have this happen to me so I just inclined the passenger seat by one notch and all is well.

When I don't have a passenger mine does this too. I just reach across and buckle the belt, no more noise.

Try jamming a towel or something between the seat and back.

Cheesy, but it works.

i have the same problem, but mine is caused by the seatbelt. buckling it does work for me too. while we are on the subject of annoyances, when i have on my tonneau cover, the elastic strap on the passenger side often vibrates from the wind rushing over it much like a guitar string...the sound this thing makes is utterly annoying. the easiest way to solve all these problems is to get a passenger.

Matt, twist the elastic strap a few times before you clip it on and it will not make that noise. We use the same solution on boats canvas tops all the time.

I have this same problem and have just learned to live with it. I think the only solution would be to just jam the seat as far back as you can go.
