This was done mostly in 6th gear, no crazy passing, between Calgary and Sicamous.

I have never took the car for a long highway trip but I did try once to see what the MPG would be if I took it easy. Mostly 6th gear and only Vtec'ing when passing (Two lane road..one in each direction). There was about 20 miles where I was in 4th and 5th during the curvy sections of the road and I still averaged about 31.5 mpg. So I figure if I didn't do any high rpm passing and stayed in 6th on a flat highway I would get in the 35-36 MPG. I am pleased to know that, though I usually get much much less since the car just begs me to keep it in Vtec. The trip was about 190 miles and took only 6 gallons to fill. I was impressed.

Yes, 30+mp(US)g is possible, as is 35 or more. I've done it as have several others. All it takes is smooth throttle application, no VTEC, and nonstop driving at a conservative (75mph or slower) speed. After getting a speeding ticket and filling up, I did 325 miles on 9.25 gallons across the east half of Texas. If you can cruise nonstop at an "I've just been ticketed" speed you'll see good mileage returns, though it's really only possible on a long trip. Forget about getting 30+ in a normal daily commute; 18-25 is normal.

At the track I used to get about 10mpg, but I've been pushing it harder lately and it's fallen to about 7mpg. At my last track day the fuel gauge showed I used half a tank in one 30 minute session!

Last month I went to Maine and on the way there (475-mile trip one way) I cruised no quicker than 75mph and got 29.7 mpg for the entire journey. No VTEC so it's possible when you shift pre-VTEC but that would be like asking Penelope Cruz if her mom can accompany you on a date.

30 MPG????????

Wow... I'm lucky to get about 15-17 in my city driving. I usually fill 'er up with 180-190 miles on the trip counter with 0 bars left.

I use an Excel conversion formula and track my MPG on a spreadsheet so I am not sure about the exact conversion. It is a straight metric to imperial conversion for sure.

As mentioned above, 30mpg is entirely possible. No need for I/H/E. All you need to do is get on the freeway, hit the cruise control and drive. I've gotten 29 or so on a trip to Santa Barbara where I blasted up to 100 a couple of times. I got 32 mpg on a round trip to Palm Springs that I didn't go over 75mph.

BTW, I wouldn't do it but... putting the top up will also help fuel efficiency (especially at highway speeds).

I avg about 20 - 22 mpg in mixed driving. If I get on the freeway more the mileage moves up. Stay on the streets and it suffers.

Great mileage for this kind of fun, IMO

To go from km/l to mpg, multiply by the conversion factor 2.352

You'd have to get 12.754 km/l equal 30 mpg

I got ~35 mpg on a 500 mile highway trip doing 80-85 most of the way. Daily I drive a mix of highway/city and get around 25 mpg. I've made it past 300 miles per tank on a few occasions, but it was pretty scary waiting to find a gas station.
