S2000 possible unknown Defects anyone??
I've got a 2001 Honda S2000 with about 12,000 miles on it. It appeared to have misfired a few times prior to it's completely shutting down on me.
I was driving the vehicle to a BP gas station, it stalled a few times going there, and leaving the parking lot of the gas station. Upon arrival to my subdivision, it stalled a few more times, then it shut down completely pulling into my driveway. When I tried to crank the car, it would turn over, but would never catch, consequently, I had it towed to Honda. After Honda recieved it, they told me "The engine appears as if it was overreved, abused, and cynlinder #4 seemed to be getting no compression", hence they recommend the purchase and installation of a new engine ($8000), and were adament in advising me they would not cover the cost, or honor any warranties associated with it! I rebutted this is practically a new car, after researching it, I added these vehicles come equipped with Revlimiters, etc. " I had a second mechanic (who certifies Honda Mechanics at the local Tech College) take a look at it. Cylinder #4 was damaged really good, he says but even at that, the car can still operate on 3 cylinders, with bad compression, and it would still have to be replaced, or reborred & honed.
Anyone sharing a similar experience?
