Default S2000 rental

On vacation next week, I am leaving France for a visit to my friends in New York and Los angeles. While in L.A., I plan to rent an S2000 (rates are CHEAP compared to France).

My question to all you S2000 owners is: what are the things I

**MUST DO**

while in momentary possession of this extraordinary vehicle?

I will have to make a L.A. - Santa Barbara run. Any advice on the most sporting route?

Thanks in advance, an S2000 FAN!!!!!

Take Hwy 1 up the coast to Santa Barbara from LA. It might not be the fastest way to go, but it definitely has the best scenery.

Definitely VTEC the car to redline. Just be careful when driving. The backend of the car can get loose at times.

Where are you renting from??

definetly seats...I second that....3 bars....temperature...are requirements for VTEC....if not....you'll see what will happen. Make sure your tires are warmed up before hitting full vtec...at 9000rpm....you could loose your back end. And drive the car like you stole it.

btw...I have lost my back quite a couple of time during the cold morning or night time. Lucky it was on open road.

Okay,

Thanks for the replies! I can't wait to pick the car up.
I will be renting from Budget-Beverly Hills. It's still very expensive (for me), but I KNOW I am going to have the time of my life!!!!

Bye for now,
Benjamin.

Benjamin,

About a year and a half ago I rented one from Budget in Beverly Hills. It was silver. I'd be curious if that's the one they're still renting. Please post what color the one you rent is and how many miles are on it. Enjoy and don't forget to VTEC often

Strike et al.

I will do my best to get back to you on the color.

I was pretty surprised to find an S2000 for rental in the US. I mean, a STANDARD transmission??? I thought you guys only knew automatics (just kidding!!).

The hardest thing will be keeping it legal: here in France, I drive cautiously but WELL OVER the speed limit all the time. When I test-drove the S2000 (or rather, test-RODE), the dealer had the car sideways for two laps around a rounadabout. The COPS CLAPPED! I doubt the CHP will do the same.

Regardless, that shifter, that chassis, the passionately mad scream to 9000... I CAN'T WAIT!!!

There's a place called "Beverly Hills Car Rental" (I think) on Sepulveda Blvd. next to LAX (across the street from In 'n Out) that always has a red one out front for rental. Check them out, they might be a bit cheaper...

take the 154 from la to solvang to santa barbara - much more sporting drive through the mountains/hills. twistys, passing, high speed runs, not just pch. Maybe take pch on the way back. And solvang isn't too bad for a tourist spot as well.

Can I stay at your place in france while you are here? Been to paris once, need to go back for a real vacation and brush up on my french. I'm going to be at the auto show/sema in vegas for the week otherwise I'd go to solvang for the drive as well.
