Just a quick post on an article I just read. Just rumours and speculations on a CR-Z based replacement. Please delete if this is a repost.

Sorry, a FWD platform will not replace the S2000. Now if it is RWD, compact, lightweight, fuel efficient and powerful you can color me interested. Bonus points for including new(er) technologies such as a dual clutch automated tranny, folding hardtop, direct injection or some variation of IMA aimed a bit more at performance than economy.
I think a hybrid, direct injected 2.2L could be near 300bhp and get 35+ mpg. Heck, the Ford Mustang V6 has over 300bhp and gets better than 30 mpg highway.
The real question is if or when Honda will decide to do another "real" driver's car.

Lets face it there isn't any inspiration at today's Honda to build such a car. They now cater to soccer moms and retirees as their bread and butter customers and their designs show it. They couldn't sell a new s2000 in enough volume to make it profitable and Honda isn't into making loss-leader types of cars, though it would certainly attract new customers to the brand.

These rumors seem to always disappoint. Honda is nowhere even close to building a decent replacement to the s2000. There focused on these new hybrids even though there designs are far inferior to others. There revival... the crz is ugly and boring. They have been away from the sports car game for a while now and seem to be moving away farther than ever before.
