I can't stress enough that if you don't like a particular brand's automotive offerings, you can simply move on to another brand. Once I'm in the market to buy another vehicle, Honda will be the last company on my mind. Nissan offers the 370Z still, Hyundai has a decent sporty coupe in the Genesis, used Z4 Ms are pretty affordable and will be even more affordable in a few years, Porsche has the entry level Cayman & Boxster, etc. Don't look into just one company for vehicles, folks. Expand your horizon. There are other car markets out there.
Now if you're strictly a Honda guy and can't find yourself owning any other vehicle brand, then . Enjoy your S2K and move on to a used NSX when the time is right.

I doubt there will be an S replacement. Nothing in the market would suggest Honda would want to go down that route. I don't see any sports car in the near future...which sucks since I truly do love Honda vehicles (have had a plethora of them). My S will be around for a long time and I hope to find an NSX in the near future as well.

But in terms of a new sports car, I'm afraid we will not be excited with anything Honda delivers in the next few years.

I've bought my last Honda. They make nothing I want and the few things that seem to be close to what I might buy are soo far over priced as to make me run from Honda.

I recently bought a pick up. The Honda was the first one I bought. I ended up with a Ford F150 FX-2. I could have bought 2 of them for the price of one Honda.

I just bought a Subie for my Mother in Law. Same story, I could have almost bought 2 Subies for the price of the Honda.

If my plan to buy a Lotus Elise after paying off the CR doesn't work out, then another S2K in the future seems likely.

Great cars always live on, maybe not in the mass market but certainly with enthusiasts. True believers always lament the changes dictated by the marketplace. I'm also a Porsche fan and recall the outcry when they went water cooled, then SUV and then four door.

The S2000 is an icon in the history of Honda, 40 years from now they'll still be some running around and I'll be driving one of 'em.
