S2000 Restomod: Would you "Singer" your S2000?
Having seen it in person, its definitely much wider than a regular 964. Idk, the two I think aren't in the same when it comes to history. Both the Singer and RWB are inspired by RSR styling. S2000 doesn't really have much to go off of because it has so many amazing tuning companies doing their own versions of the ultimate S2000 road car.
This quote nailed it perfectly. Many of the ideas expressed on this thread are great, but you're ignoring the expense involved. One of the big selling points of the S2000 was (and is) that it is a great, AFFORDABLE sports car. Do Singer cars claim to be inexpensive? For the sort of money you guys are talking about, I'd skip the S2000 and go straight to the Cayman/911 variants.
Thats the thing though, people that afford these cars don't look at price tag. Money doesn't really matter to them, they want that personal fully custom to their taste 911 that nobody can have. These same people probably own hyper cars in their garages. At that show there were 5 other Singer cars behind the re-imagined 911 and each was completely different from one another. You talk to any true Porsche nut and going stupid fast doesn't get brought up once.
Someone could build a pos rusty rattling fender Honda civic for 20k to blow the doors off your Porsche in a strait line so who cares, money vs performance isn't everything or we would all be driving around in a pos looking shoebox because its cheap and fast.
Here's how I look at it: you can buy a newer Porsche than a Singer for a fraction of the cost that will outperform it in any way, but the Singer has the analog/mechanical charm that a lot of newer cars lack. I think of it like a watch: your Apple watch will do so much more than a well made mechanical watch at a fraction of the cost, but with way less soul - it's not all about performance.
I think the S2000 might have just enough mechanical/analog charm to be "Singerized". I imagine lighted/wider factory looking wheels, subtle fender flares (only noticeable when compared side by side), maybe a stroked engine with ITB's, cleaned up engine harness (without unnecessary accessories electrical tape), titanium exhaust.
Given that extremely low mileage S2k's are going for more than what they were new, I would bet that people would pay big money for practically new, better than factory ones.
