Is the s2000 right for me?
^^ No, you just haven't pushed hard enough yet. If you've never spun, you have yet to learn the cars limits. The "trick" is to either learn the limits through a safe venue, or avoid them. Either should (in theory at least) keep most people out of trouble.

ok guys, i was lucky enough to get a test drive from a friend who owns a nice yellow 2002 version and I have to say that my concerns abt rwd drive are now completely gone, this car feels so safe to drive aggressively and corner that i must have one.The feel of tha thing was just phenomenal. the aural and tactile sensations.... wawaweewa!!!

It's really not as bad as people make it seem. I think some people that own this car just don't know how to drive it. I'm not saying I'm the best driver, but I have no trouble controlling this car and I have pushed it.
Maybe it's all those videogames I've been playing since I was a child!

Easier still.
Lacking humility, this is very apt to be your fate, unless you learn, before it's too late.
Now it's clear that you think you're better than the people in the videos above, but I'm calling BS.

Post a video showing us how you skirt the cars limits.
A video like this one (finding the limits), or like this one (a perfect 360) might convince me that you're not totally full of crap.
VSA is pretty good. I drove stupid three times, the rear initiated a spin, and immediately got back in line.
This makes VSA an excellent learning tool. You can push your limits without worrying that much about the consequences.

Red MX-5 I've never talked to you really but since 4 years ago I've read your posts and everyone of them has so much knowledge. Before I got my first 2003 gpw, I've read about how dangerous it would be and to tell you the truth I was getting a little worried. Since it was going to be my first car and first time driving stick. So I finally saved up money for 5 1/2 years and drove down 5 hours to go pick her up. It was one of the happiest days of my life but I couldnt stop thinking about the horror stories and wrecks people would get into. I drove her off the lot and took her to the nearest shell station in the town and filled her up. Well when I was taking a left as I'm leaving the gastation, I accidently reved it up to like 8200 and dropped the clutch while turning... I started spinning around like a top and finally stopped pointing towards the oncoming traffic. I dropped it into reverse and then into 1st and hauled ass. After that moment I really realized how dangerous the car really was. But that was also because I was inexpierenced in driving, especially a manual. But I took it easy the whole way back and made it in one piece. From then on I drove that car like no other. I had it for about 1 year 3 months and put 58,600 mile on it. I started getting real settled in and feeling like I was the car. Well 2 weeks ago, some dumb ricer cuts me off in the middle of a turn and slam the brakes. My reaction was idiotic, I turned the wheel and missed him barely but ended up going towards the oncoming traffic and my back end came out. I counter-steered back and forth but my 5th one ended up with the passenger side back end clipping the telephone pole. The wheel flew off and the dumbass stopped and looked back, laughs and hauls ass... I got out of the car enraged and when the cops came I told them my story and he sits there and tells me that he thinks I took the turn going 70 lost control and all that happened. Well I was so close to purchasing a 2006 white lotus elise but it got sold before the day i was gonna go down and get it. I looked on autotrader and saw the 2007 GPW Red/Black I just had to get it. So I went and picked her up 3 days ago. Well my moral to the story is if it wasnt for guys like RED MX-5 so many more people would have wrecked there s2k's. No matter how much of a expierenced you are, other people can ruin it for you. So just be safe everybody and take the words of elders into consideration when you're out there driving.

There is no reason to fear the S2000, becuae it's actually a very easy car to drive, even at the limit, but it's important to realize that it can and will be very unforgiving of any driver errors or lapses in judgement.
I really worry about the guys who think they're such great drivers that this kind of thing can't happen to them. I use to think of people who bought high performance cars (usually Porsche or Ferrari) and promptly crashed them as "idiots," and sometimes that's an accurate assessment, but not always. Even the best drivers, or the most cautious drivers, can get into trouble sometimes. Earlier today we saw Hamilton drive right into the back of the Kimster, while Kimi was stopped at the end of pit lane, and if it can happen to a prodegy like Hamilton, it can happen to anyone. It's easy to ask how one can be stupid enough not to see a red light and a stopped car, but the truth of the matter is that such things can happen to absolutely anyone, and you don't always need a ricer in a Civic to help out.
