Sales of S2Ks in California are obviously still doing very nicely for Honda. Both my local Honda dealers have silvers in their showroom; one is priced at $38.900 and only has Lojack as an option, and the other is priced at $39,500 and has (only) special rims/tires. It seems like they're no longer adding in all the options to jack the price up.
The sales for CY2000 and CY2001 are on Honda's Web site:

Dealers, however, continue to be confused about this.

The VIN number must be the number off the production line. The data that would be interesting would be number of S2000's actually manufactured in a given year.

The sales numbers are the number of S2000 sold in a calendar period.
I have never seen data reported by model year number. I'm sure Honda has it but I've never heard of anyone giving that out.

I don't know wether your statement about "no longer adding in the options to jack the price up" is a tongue in cheek or not but the (only)special rims/tires had better be "very special" for $6,800 above MSRP.

Either way the 5000 per MY to the US is blown out of the water.
