Kraftwerks or SoS + new clutch IMHO

If you opt for the Porsche get the newest one you can afford because once it's out of warranty the maintance costs are stupid $$$$

1. Sell 00 for ~$8k
2. Buy 02-03 with 20-40k miles for $12k
3. Supercharge new car
4. Profit

Exactly.

My S has 84k miles on it, and I am preparing to SC it next month. I was considering selling it for an S with ~20k miles, but I decided against it because 84k isn't bad, and I know the condition of my car and it has no hidden mysteries.

I would sell yours and get a lower mileage and SC it. It would be a lot cheaper, more fun, and faster than a Cayman.

I agree with dammit. Owning a Cayman goes far beyond the price of admission, you'll also pay dearly in dollars and worry, maintaining it. Which is OK if you can afford it.

just take out a small loan 10k,....buy a new engine out of a wrecked S and use the extra 5-6k for your supercharger if you are that worried about. or just wait till there is actually something wrong with your motor. i understand the "piece of mind" of a new motor but,....miles are subjective to how the car was ran. your 100+k mile S could have less wear than a used one with 20k on it that you might get.

If you plan on tracking the car I'd definitely go for the Cayman S. If not I'd still go for the Cayman S (that's my plan). Even if you boost your S2000 you'll never replicate that flat six wail or low end torque. Not to mention double the cargo capacity in a sexier shape.

Cayman has a roof. Do you want a convertible? If yes, stick with the S, if not and you have the $$$, go for the Cayman.
Personally I drove a Cayman and it didn't wow me like I thought it would, ended up sticking with my S.
