S2000 SC Option or Sell for Cayman
#21
I had a BMW330i and was GUNG HO for the Cayman. I bought a used S, test drove a Cayman again, and now have almost no desire for a Cayman.... The S is more fun. To hell with the numbers...

I owned a S/C S, then owned a Cayman S. The CS was more fun, more reliable, and more expensive. Only you can decided if the benefits are worth the cost. For me, they were.

Ive driven a Cayman recently and I liked it alot
I suggest driving one and deciding for yourself
At the end of the day you can only get others opinions here, or you could leave your computer for an hour and know which you like better for your self.
Ive sat passenger in a turboS and a S/C'd S (but never driven one ).
If you can swing it I think a new "Cayman S" would satisfy without a doubt.
Goodluck with your decision!

Thanks for all your input. I think the best thing would be to drive one first and see how much I like it. I have the cash to buy one but I can also use that cash to buy another property. I always have people telling me to spend some of the cash and live alittle since I save everything. And I agree to a point cause you never know whats going to happen.
On a side note, looking at the engine last night, everyone knows how the S burns oil. I checked my engine bay and saw two small leaks on the valve cover. Now like 20k miles ago I had someone check the retainers since I wanted to upgrade to the ap2 ones incase I over-reved. When he did this he never replaced the gasket. It seems i have a very small leak where the gasket sits and alson with one of the bolts.
I just ordered a valve gasket kit to replace everything which should resolve this issue. does anyone know the torque specs when installing the new gasket for the valve cover.
since some of you had first had experience with the comptech S/C, there is a member selling one. Comes with everything except the fuel pump. Is this a plug and play system. What ecu/Piggy back does it use?
Members recommended to order the banjo bolts if I decided for the S/C which I would do too. Is there anything else I should do if I decide to go this route with the engine to preserve it aslong as I can?

with your car being as old as it is, I'd sell it now and get what you can out of it--definitely go for a nice used Cayman S, much better option than your high mileage S2K w/ a SC in my opinion
