Arrow S2000 SHIFTER

Just wondering if anyone here has an early 2000 model S2000 like mine. Everybody always talks about how sweet the throws are on the shifter. But it seems like I don't have that. I am wanting to know if others with early models have the same thing. I test drove a 2003 model before and the shifting on that was amazing. I wish my S had that.

I was thinking about buying new shifter parts.

METATRON - You don't actually say what is wrong with your shift, but I would suggest it's not the shifter (a metal shaft) that is giving you issues but the transmission.

Early Ss had some issues with synchros and grinding. If you have one of these boxes and it has never been upgraded it may have some wear. But before you get uptight about I'd suggest swapping out the tranny fluid for some GM Synchromesh Friction Modified and seeing how that improves things.

Same.
My 1st to 2nd is a bit notch and will be clunky when cold.

I have no problems with my '00 thus far with 45k miles. Just the standard 1-2 screwiness when it's cold.

I have changed out my tranny fluid. What I am complaining about is how long the throws seem to be. Not short like they are supposed to be.

But the length of the "throw" is all relative. Compared to other cars I have driven, the S2000 has a very short throw. I am sure there are other cars with even shorter throws, but it is short enough for me. By the way, I think the shift throw is the same for all model years of the S2000, so if you think the MY2000 has a long throw, then you will not like stock S2000 including the MY2005 cars either.

forgot to add I do have a late model MY00. First record of it was in July of 2000 and I think 7600 # or something.
