s2000 in the snow
Here is an interesting comparison and a bit of an eye opener:

It seems that we have way more people who have difficulty driving in the rain. In fact, this topic far exceeds those about driving the S in the snow.

i dont know what the personal attacks were about...all i did was offer my opinion...people dont post topics in here to only get one sided opinions...just because you and a couple of your post buddies feel comfortable driving an s200 in the snow does not mean that every one in here does or would...
i see you are starting to realize this, however, so i'm not going to chastize you for it.
Not everyone here drives their S in the winter/snow, but why do you belittle those who do? It is their car and they can do with it as they see fit. If you properly clean the car regularly the salt won't hurt it that badly. Being a 50/50 weight distributed car, toss some snow tires on it and they become very capable winter drivers.
FYI, I raced an S2000 for the first time this year on ice and snow. raced, on a frozen lake. my friend has studded hakapelliita's, and that car was a blast. you think it handles well on the road? it does just as awesome on snow and ice.

This will be the third winter I've driven the S daily, and there's really no need for concern if you have the proper equipment and skill level. Everyone here is telling you the same thing, it's not the car, it's the driver. Once you get accustomed to the handling and general behavior of the car, it becomes second nature.
PS - If there's so much snow outside that you become concerned, just STAY HOME. I know the S will drive in 4-5" of snow no problem, but if I don't need to go out, why chance it?

spent 21 years of my life living in the third snowiest city in the US...never did you see s2000's driving around bcs people thought they were great winter cars...the ONLY compact sports cars you see are AWD cars bcs they are controllable in the snow...try starting your rwd s2000 on a steep hill in the middle of winter...see if you make it up it...cars rust from salt...you cannot tell me that they dont...

It is a spectacular winter car. My only regret is getting rid of my 16" aftermarket wheels and putting 17" blizzaks on the OEM wheels, the grip is severly reduced, a lot of it due to the 245 tires on the rear. (If it were my only car I'd go right back to 16's for the winter, but I don't drive it too often in the winter these days now that I have a second car)
However, it is still very controllable, and extremely fun! Makes a better winter car than my FWD Acura with all-seasons.

The thread was started to find out if the S2k is a capable winter car. The answer is yes. I don't know where the original poster is from, but not all states use salt/sand on roads in the winter.
